I checked previous service details
Coolant & Brake Fluid were replaced at 40,000 KMs service along with fuel injector cleaning, throttle body cleaning, engine flushing & brake bleeding.
Gear oil, air filter & spark plugs were replaced during 30,000 KMs service along with tappet adjustement, throttle body cleaning and engine decarbonising.
Now the ODO is 44,000 KMs and 1.5 years since last service.
Gear oil & spark plugs are 14,000 KMs old.
I have noticed little bit of shuddering recently. I think I should be skipping fuel injector cleaning, tappet adjustment & engine decarbonation?

In Diesel, you may slot into 1st and release the clutch and the lugging speeds/momentum will determine its health in the most simple manner. |
In the diesel it doesn't lug in 1st gear. Damn the torque!:D
Will try and check in my car. The SA whom I often go to says that the clutch in my car has another 10-15K kms life left.

My advise on using the same fluid is not to save few bucks (as Brake fluid is hardly an expense) but in general, It is definitely not necessary to replace complete brake fluid when you change pads (If the brake fluid was changed recently & has more life to go). |
I am not looking at the expense either. Let be however long from the last fluid change, when the pads are changed so is the oil. I love my car so I am more proactive with its health.

Change the Engine oil and air filter. I guess yours is the F10D model, right? Is it MPFI engine? (I am confused so asking:confused:)

It is OK for the gear oil. Spark plug also lasts long but just check the clearance and end as what colour it is in. It will give you the engine life status and air-to-fuel mixture status (As in if it is running lean or rich)

Shuddering when clutch engaging or when the clutch is disengaged?
Skip the brake fluid, gear oil change and de-carbonization (Please avoid this in future).

Had gone to DD Motors, Peeragarhi today. There was huge weekend rush and service advisor told that car will be returned only by tomorrow evening. He checked the noise and said that there is some minor issue and requires greasing/polishing of some part in gearbox. Clutch is absolutely fine. No need of clutch replacement.
Since I require car this weekend I refused for service and came back.
Even with prior Service appointment - DD Motors Peeragarhi, SA told that they can't deliver the car on same day! How can anyone afford to leave car at the service station for two days just for normal routine service? Looks like it's time to switch from Maruti Authorised Service to Friendly Neighbourhood Garage! :|
Since the noise problem is minor I will wait till the ODO reaches 45000 KMs mark. and get it serviced from some other Maruti Service Station.

If all is well with the car then why worry. Go and get another opinion from any other MASS or your friendly local mechanic and get the job done if it is not risky.
I guess the car is not in warranty? !

@Anurag--a petrol car that's been driven 44000 kms will surely be out of warranty, as petrol cars are usually driven around 10 K max per year. Of course there are exceptions like Parag (and you for diesel cars) lol:.
@Bluevolt--I've been having a shrill sound when I press the clutch of my Waggy for the past 4 years. It was identified as an issue with the clutch release bearing. I was advised to change it only when the plates need to be changed. I've been living with it for the past 20000 kms.
Touchwood, my clutch is still good with 68 K on the odo. The car is driven mostly by my daughter and wife.

I hardly drive. I have low mileage and not a mile cruncher as Parag sir. lol:
If it is out of warranty then get the car serviced at your friendly mechanics garage. At least they'll do a good job and not make you visit repeatedly.
MASS is only for major repairs and cars under warranty.

Repairing the clutch release bearing requires gear box opening as told by SA. So i guess I will also wait for some more time.

So till when will you wait? Till the 45K kms service or till the clutch lasts?
What are the issues that would crop up if the release bearings are not replaced? I feel the engaging and disengaging wouldn't be smooth and silent.
Any idea about the cost? Get the part from Maruti, over-the-counter and get it installed at your friendly mechanic's garage.

Not that long. I will get it done by 45k kms service interval. One of my friend told me that since this job requires opening of gear box, I will be charge same labour charge amount as in case of replacing new clutch.
Today the shrill noise while pressing the clutch got worse and loud. There was some burning smell too coming after driving for some 30 kms but the engine temperature needle was in range.
Booked service appointment for Sunday to get the problem sorted out and car serviced!

Looks like the clutch is getting fried. Check it thoroughly.

I think your guess is right. The smell was pretty much like as from burning some rubber material!

The smell of burning clutch would be almost similar to that of smell due to overheated brake pads (Asbestos).
If it is smelling like rubber, it could be your belts too.

Is there any specific interval to replace the belts also?
In this case I suspect the smell must be from clutch area, it was there inside the cabin as well as upon opening the bonnet.

If it is the brakes then the car won't be rolling freely, Right?!

Won't the belts shear or snap if it starts to get fried?

It depends on the tension of the belts. Just like you check the chain on your Karizma! If it is loose then it is time to change them. Though i am curious on this aspect. I have not changed an belt on my car till date except for the timing one @ 100000 kms. Parag bhai, your input is needed!

Hhmm! The belts are located under bonnet only!:uncontrol
PS: Please get the car checked and repaired ASAP! Don't know what damage the delay would cause to the car and your wallet!:)
