Guys can anyone provide some inputs?
The car refuses to crank. As soon as I try, the fuel pump relay and the engine relay start clicking like mad.i switched both of them but the same issue, so eliminated, expensively, the relays. Any help?

Check out the crank sensor of your car. Maybe its not working.
This happened few days back in my car where it just wouldn't start. Replaced the sensor, calibrated the ECM with the new sensor and its working perfectly now.

jump started the car and it worked.
Drove down to the mechanic, and he opened the battery...no water!
Apparently, there may be some overcharging from the alternator, and it might have caused the water to dry out. So I have left the car for charging, and have been advised to check the water whenever I can.
Rookie!!

How old is the battery? If it is older than 4 years, why don't you change it and have a peace of mind?

It's just over a year old, that's why I'm getting the whole trail checked out.
Just want to eliminate causes and effects.

re: Fiesta 1.6 Sxi 2006 : New / Used car ownership at 52000 / 98000 kms

Replaced the tyres today from NCT5s to Continentals.
Came to about 4900 a pop.
Old tyres went for a 100 bucks each...
Total running on the set was 33000 kms, which is good, i think.

One thing I did notice was that rears had about 10k still left in them probably more.
The front ones, although they were still holding tread, would only have survived for about 500-1k more.

Sort of testament to how much fun have been having exploiting the higher speed cornering. No regrets, as its a small price to pay.

As for the new shoes, I went straight from the shop to the expressway, and some points were VERY noticeable.
One, even when the NCTs were brand new, there were still thuds transferred to the steering, but the worst bits of the noida sec-16 interiors today on the new shoes were very very subdued.
The NCTs, the ride deteriorated constantly, and the shift to brand new rubber can be attributed to the change, but i honestly do not remember the goodyears to be this pliant.I am willing to give 50% to placebo.

Second, the higher speeds.
On a recent drive to the e-way on a meet, 110 was tops, with noticeable vibrations through the the steering, 130 on curves.
Unknowingly managed to touch 130 today, unknowingly because the telltale vibrations were missing.
I am surprised, and happy.

Mayankk did you get tyre rotation done every 5-7 kms? I think not, because if you had, you would have had proper ageing of the tyres.

I didnt even notice the wear till a little while back.
Thats another of my gripes with Harpreet.
Every service i marked down for rotation as a special note.
Now, According to the tyre guy, "Aage peechhe kya, saab, yahan to left ke ne right bhi nahi dekha lag raha hai."
(front to back?these have never even sides.----Impact was clearer in hindi)

Rear Chrome garnish cleanup

Quick cleanup guide for the rear chrome lip above the license plates.
Use steel wool, and Mr. Muscle(Not entirely necessary, the Mr. Muscle. As i found, even water works.)
Dont worry about scratches.
Use steel wool which has Flattened strands, not the stringy ones. thats much harsher, and will scratch.

The idea was to put on CF Vinyl on the thing, but, i thought it wouldn't look as good as i felt it would( in my head), and longevity wont be anything to write home about either.
So decided to try cleaning it, and it brought it back to almost like new.
Of course, the deep scratches cant be fixed, but the grime was gone.

I took it off as I didn't want to scratch the paint, and wanted a thorough cleaning.

For the fiesta, raise the dicky, and just above the level of the plates, there's 4 bolts only, in line, one is slightly hidden behind the key mechanism.
Easy to unbolt, and you can pop the lip out .

here's the pics:
Lip removed(mustache??? wrong end for that. Gimme the techy name, if someone knows.)

This is what was done to pass the timethis weekend.
Total cost - 200. And the LEDs are not visible from outside. They're on an overhanging lip inside the grill.

Factory leather finally gave up the ghost.
the cushioning on the driver side also collapsed.
Got the seats, the side panels done, and also got a centre armrest put in.

Hey Mayankk, where did you get the centre arm rest from? was it a direct fit, or did it need any modifications to fit the Fiesta? Also. is it adjustable for height?

This should be available from any accessory guy for about 1
And it's a direct fit, just needs a couple of holes drilled in the partition.
Yes, it's adjustable for height, but that involves taking the screws out to raise it.

Install went fantastically well.
Unfortunately, it was so engrossing, I didn't take any pictures.
Fortunately, I had another bhpian at home Snapping away.
Sameer, pictures please, pronto.
The projectors threw a surprise in that the coronas turned out to be blue!!
