The reason they are pushing for the Diesel is because very few people buy the 2.0 Petrol. They never have it in stock and a new car takes upto 30-45 days. I booked with Audi Delhi in Dec 09 but they perpetually kept pushing back the delivery and I ended up canceling the booking Feb end. Went to Audi Gurgaon and they got me the car by March end.

Once you get the car: S Mode + NH8. Thats when you realize it is well worth the wait. It really is.
I have already searched all team bhp a4 threads. My heart says the 2.0 petrol but family members want the car fast. I spoke to Audi india Mr.Balbir, He says i have to give a fresh order and it will take atleast 3 months.

I have to agree with you on this.I am not too concerned about the FE

I would suggest also check out the C. At the price point available, the petrol C seems to be REALLY good value and a fairly rewarding drive as well. Of course the 2.0 petrol Audi may still be better but I'm not in a position to comment since I haven't driven the Audi.

@GTO: while I agree on paper the Passat offers more power, when I TD it, I have to say the handling left me completely underwhelmed. I may have 70 BHP under the hood but somehow didn't feel exciting while driving. For that reason alone I believe the big 3 Germans may be worth considering despite the price difference.
I even checked the c class, i like the engine way better than the audis but the design is too old and the upgrade is around the corner.

They are offering me a discount of 3.5 lacs on the Mercedes c class.

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

Try to be patient and go for the 2.0 liter petrol. It is the best. Very good performance and fuel economy combination. 0-100 around 6.5-6.7 seconds. Car has good dynamics and its an engine that has made the 3.2 liter V6 engine pointless in Audi.

Go for the petrol and you wont regret it. Can't you wait 1.5 months for such a beauty. It will be well worth it. At least fight for it at home.

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

I have driven both extensively and have owned the TFSI for almost 2 years now and love it. The Diesel engine is, in my opinion, a poor compromise. The 2.0 TFSI is a sedate car when you want it to be and a hoot to drive when you decide to rip it. On the FE front, when driven with a light foot on the highway, the car consistently returns about 13 to the litre. This is a car I assume you will have for a while so I STRONGLY recommend waiting.

Please either check the Audi website or get your facts right. The 3.2 fsi v6 with high octane is 6.4s to 100. How could you expect a 211 bhp 4 cylinder to have identical performance as the 265bhp v6 ? The 211bhp TFSI is a nice car but a lot slower than the V6.

Platza - Actually, Ragtop is right. The 2.0 hits 100 around 8. And the 3.2 only pulls away after the car hits 150+. The 3.2 is a better handling car, with Quattro and a significantly more powerful engine but in the lower ends, where we usually find ourselves in the city, there is little separating the two.

I drove a 3.2 when I took delivery of my 2.0 and remember feeling little to no difference. The torque figures would be identical and the 2.0 is lighter. Don't have the specs in front of me but I'm sure its there somewhere in your brochure.

PlatzdaTurbo please check the review below for the 2010 A4 2.0T 0-100 kmph sprint. It is indeed 6.5 seconds as stated in many international reviews and also by the Audi dealer in Kuwait. This engine is one of the reasons why 3.2 does not have many takers. Well I am not sure about the engine you get in India, maybe its de tuned. The reason I feel the 2.0 is faster is, since its a much lighter engine and has a turbo too compared to the 3.2 V6.

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

FYI here is another review of the A4 2.0 T, 0-100 kmph which is 6.6 seconds. trust me man this maybe a 4 cylinder engine but it can hold its own against the V6's.

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

Another aspect is the TFSI is lighter than the 3.2 hence the car is less nose heavy hence less understeer

My bad with regards to the 2.0T. Knew its a fast car but had not thought it to be this seriously fast. Anyway you are right, last i asked, WCI is not offered with non quattro models. But if they are making an exception, then do opt for it. Fantastic add-ons. Congrats in advance.

I believe that apology should have been for me. I seriously started doubting my knowledge on Audi once you said that the 2.0 T was not that fast.

Anyways I wanted to confirm one more thing. A4's don't come with the DSG gearbox right ? Quattros come in Multi tronic transmission and non-quattros get the CVT's right ?

Multitronic is the CVT, while S-Tronic is the DSG. I think Quattros have S-Tronic.

Well, Audi India seems to suggest 0-100 in 8.2 secs for the 2.0 TFSi

Yes but the 2.0 TFSi in the brochure is just a front wheel drive cvt transmission car.The ones running faster have DSG and are Quattro's.

Quattro A4s come with DSGs. My 2010 model comes with a 6-speed. The current version comes with a 7-speed for better efficiency. Non quattros come with the multitronic
