Hi Team,

I am planning to buy a Z4 for my wife. She has liked the car a lot from what she has seen on TV or a few on the road. I am a big fan of BMWs and own a 530D currently. Very happy with it.

Just wanted to know a few things about Z4 (the local showroom does not display Z4 so will not know these things).

1. Wipers - Are the wipers on the wrong side like the earlier 5 series?
2. Any general problems with the car as this is a fully imported piece?
3. Does the Delhi/Gurgaon showrooms have this car on display?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Sahil,

Just an irritant I guess. I test drove a friends 2008 5 series in rains and that had the wipers in the wrong direction. I was kind of loosing concentration thinking about them. I was glad that they corrected this in the F10 that I finally bought...

and what about BMW Chandigarh,dont they have one on display,there are quite a few Z4's in chandigarh now.
Now,since Porsche is in chandigarh,how about looking at their stable

Gurgaon had 2 or 3 cars - till last month and were running a small promotion as well , you can check with them . Have you thought about new 6 series - 640D.

1. Those wipers are meant for the LHD cars, can't confirm if they are adapted to RHD Z4s. I had trouble concentrating with them too.

2. The driving position wasn't comfortable for me, I feel the steering & pedals don't align well with the seat. Other than that, you might want to read up on the problems people have faced with the 35i engine which to my best knowledge is the only option in India.

3. I'm sure you can call & confirm with the BMW dealer there.

OT - Consider the 330d convertible or the new 6 series (640). Their still convertibles but are newer cars than the Z4, much more economical & practical (four seats! space!! boot?)

The Mercedes E Cabriolet would also be in the same range & a very tempting option.

BMW Chandigarh unfortunately does not have any for display. Though they told me that they would call if one comes to them for delivery or promos. I will call Gurgaon dealer tomorrow and see if they have any on display. Have to go to Gurgaon in a few days.

Contact this guy. He had a Z4 for sale. I had contacted him for some other car. No affiliation with him. Got his details through OLX.

Hey thanks! I have contacted him and others on OLX. All seems a bit shady with most of them peddling the same cars. I was hoping to find owners direct rather than go through these dealers.

You missed a very nice car, 2019 with a lot of loadings and 800 Kms on Odo went for 80 lac in Gurgaon. There maybe another one that BBT recently picked from BMW auctions but it’s unregistered and you may not save much.

Do consider 718, brand new. With Porsche you lose minimum.

I should have been clear - looking for 2010 models upwards not something recent and costly. Also want a manual transmission.

As far as I know, the Z4 was not sold in India with a manual transmission. But it's a really nice automatic transmission, so all the best for your search
