Re: Seeking Advice Regarding Used 2010 BMW 320D

As far as i know there was no facelfit to this model prior to the launch of the F30.
Otherwise the car seems to be in a pretty good condition. The only sore point being the asking price. Looking at the pics, i don't see a sunroof nor projectors so maybe this is the Corporate Edition.
If you can bring the price down, this will be a really good deal as the car just has done 31k kms. Anything between 12-14 lakhs should be good.

All the best.

Re: Seeking Advice Regarding Used 2010 BMW 320D

This is the E90 lci. Though there may have been some changes after this. The engine was updated to 184bhp and 380nm of torque, and the steering was made much lighter. Do double check on that.

Besides that does it have BSI? Also what tyres were installed when they were changed?

16.5 is a bit high, I think 15 is fine if the car is really well maintained.

We went checked out the car. Loved it - steering was lot stiffer than what we were used to with the Terrano or Corolla - but dad was loving it all, even the stiffer steering (which seemed too stiff for me at lower speeds).

We offered 14.25 and expected a counter offer at the very least - but got a call later on from the mediator saying the car is sold for 16l (within hours after we left, really!!) ...

The guy told us he will find a good car... This morning he tells us about a 2011 BMWX1 - run only 20k - asking price 16.5lac and not negotiable. There has been a facelift in 2013 with gearbox and steering changes right? I am told no changes externally except for the headlights.

Re: BMW 320d (8000kms done) or New Chevy Cruze?

Hey Vij.

It definitely looks like you are slightly inclined towards bimmers! And well we all would be.
These high end cars do look very tempting especially cause of high depreciation that can help you score one in a very good condition. But what is crucially important is the maintenance part. Without BSI there's always gonna be a risk of an unexpected expense from your pocket!
The new cruze will indeed be a more practical buy and well it's difficult to compare Chevy vs BMW but again, it boils down to whether you wanna go ahead with a practical decision or go with what your heart desires

You make a good point. About the maintenance - yes, it worries me but we dare because
1. The car will see less than 300kms per month with once a year 'long trip' or not.

2. I recently came across a used luxury car dealer who has a 'nice' service center. They service luxury cars at 50% costs - parts costs cant be messed with though, I am told overall costs of stuff like break pads and belts will be less than 50% of showroom.

And this used car dealer has an array of used luxury cars. When we went there they had 6 2011 Merc C220d that they had acquired. Those cars had all run over 2 lac km. All coffee color - spotless and drive well. Asking price 16lac and very negotiable. They told me they can service these vehicles at low cost etc... Not interested in 2.2 lac run vehicle ofcourse

PS: I am not looking for a Cruze btw. A mod merged my thread with this which perhaps gives that impression.

Oh sorry about the Cruze part!

With your running you can definitely go in with a luxury barge. And if the service provided by the dealer is good then it should be smooth sailing.
Finally you should really do a thorough inspection of the shortlisted cars. We tend to go with the "sweet talk" these dealers are used to throwing at us.

Let us know what you end up getting and hope you get a good deal and a great car soon.

Re: BMW 320d (8000kms done) or New Chevy Cruze?

What would a good buyers price be for a 2011 BMWX1 that's run only 20k and in good condition(i have not seen this car yet) ?

16.5lac is the asking price.

Quoted price seems about right. Everything boils down to the condition of the car, to be very honest. You haven't mentioned the variant, I am guessing it's the base model.
You can keep a range of 16-17.5 for a 2011 X1.

X1s were selling for around 23-24 after huge discounts. Keep that in mind.

I would avoid. The engine is the 177bhp and 350nm one, the steering is heavy too. The X1 got the upgrades only with the facelift.

I havent driven the x1 yet... will be going in a day or 2.
177bhp n 350nm torque sounds good enough

Sure, I am told the face-lifted model is marked improvement - but our budget is below 18 n i don't think i can fish for the newer model with that... :(

Cant find a single 320D post-2010 model below 15 lac - and I have looked hard.

Ideally, looking for a 2011 320D for around 16 lacs.

Going to TD a 2011 BMW X1 tom. Been quoted 16.5lac - lets see, have to check out that steering.

I asked him to double check and he said he is sure. Ridiculous!

Edit: called again and now he says it is 15lac... will be following up. But it is Andhra reg(rajamundry). Wonder how it will affect things in telangana(hyd)

Hey Vij, any update on that X1 test drive? An older C would be very cheap now considering there is a generation change.
