It will be F30 328i with the N20 engine.

It is not outdated at all and is feature packed.

Handling will also be good because it will be 140 mm ground clearance model so will be good on stance too.

All the best

That was quick!

Thank you for the revert. Let me mentally get ready for this. I guess an active "secure" or "bumper to bumper" service package (whatever the correct technical phrase is) associated with this piece would be a key point.

Re: BMW 320d (F30) vs Audi A4

guys, have been posting in Audi threads previously since was looking at the A4 new version, but on fellow BHPians advice went for the 320d TD yesterday ,and seriously loved the difference in drive and seriously hated the difference in price . BMW have the new version now (not yet available for TD tho)and for the next few days both have promised to stick to the OLD pre budget pricing ! so have to decide in a day or two ! so help me !
First timer into the big 3 club hence the moolah difference really matters !

go with new 3 - you will enjoy drive as well hassle free ownership , don't forgot to take BSI pack perhaps 3 Year 40 K if your running is low , you can extend this further before expiry.

Re: BMW 320d (F30) vs Audi A4

Went ahead and bought the new 320d Prestige from Noida in the metallic blue color after Streeecchhinnng my budget enormously. It was raining and the car got muddied on the way home .. so set about with 2 new duster cloths and then took some (amateur) pics from my Samsung S6 in the basement parking and posting here.
Probably the first pics of the facelifted version with all LEDs,twin chrome exhaust and some more chrome!
The car is FEB MANUFACTURED and at showroom exit showed 33 Kms only .

Re: BMW 320d (F30) vs Audi A4

Note how times ( and camera resolutions !) change..but old habits die hard. Am posting some pics of my the-then-newly-bought Elantra (nov 2012 pics) in the same place and camera angles/positions as the pics of the (now new) BMW...
Hope you enjoy the pics as much as i did preserving and combining the 2 picture collages !

Re: BMW 320d (F30) vs Audi A4

For the price BMW is charging for the 3, they really need to give the instrument cluster a complete overhaul. That cluster is really dated and doesn't belong to a car in this segment.

it will depend on your usage and number of Years that you will plan to keep this car. If your usage is not more, you can go with 3/4 Years 40-60 K BSI basic pack as wear & tear won't be more but if you have a heavy foot and plan to burn brakes faster then opt for BSI Inclusive plus which will cover wear & tear parts. Don't forgot to get additional warranty as well.

Re: BMW 320d (F30) vs Audi A4

Hi All:

I had purchased a used Bimmer (the 2010 Corporate Edition) last year which I sold within 10 months of ownership- it had already clocked 67,000 kms. I had a few 'issues', so to speak which made me sell them.

1. Had to change the tyres within 2 months of ownership: This was my bad as I should've inspected it.
2. I tried to sell it back to BMW who advised me that the car had met with a serious accident running into a few lakhs (I had gotten the service history with a few mentions)
3. Front brakepads were worn out and I had to take the car yet again to Kochi.
4. Lack of service centers in Trivandrum- every problem, I had to take it all the way to Kochi which is circa 200 kms away.
5. BMW Platino Classic Kochi staff advised me not to drive the car in flooded areas as the car is prone to hydrostatic locks- I used to nervous when it rains in Kerala(it rains 80% of the time here)
6. I used to get a 'Car on a lift' symbol when I turn on the ignition- One service representative advised me that the battery was about to run out(as it was the original white battery and almost reached it's shelf life). Another service representative stated that it's more of a European Annual MOT check and shouldn't worry about it. However, it did go away after I used to drive regularly- perhaps the battery must have been weak.

Overall, it was a sub-optimal experience with the 1st Bimmer I purchased.

Can someone please advise me if there is a PDI for luxury used cars as it seems to be rather complex?

of course , when you are buying high mileage car it will matter & this will be true across any segment , just that for regular cars it won't pinch you for replacing routine stuff like battery , Brake pads etc. Whenever someone is thinking of buying a used BMW - always prefer do stick with something thats covered under BSI and check thoroughly service history. Its a good idea to pay BMW workshop and get everything checked.

Thanks much Turbanator- I actually did try to check the service history with the BMW dealer prior to this who refused to divulge details as the car belonged to another person. They requested me to send through his confirmation in writing along with the RC (Vehicle Registration) copy. I used to prod the Mahindra First Choice dealer and finally sent it to me on the day of delivery.
Re: BSI, I requested BMW Platino Classic to explore if it could be extended(as the 3 years timeframe had run out)- they responded back stating that BMW Global replied in the negative and I have to pay the whole amount.

Re: BMW 320d (F30) vs Audi A4

Guys need your advice..my 320d Luxury Line is just coming up for service (only run 4k kms..as I travel a lot and use 3 cars)...not sure if I should take the 3 year BSI package (the car was showing another 4k kms due to service until the 1 year point came up..but now due as its one year)
the 3yr 40k kms package is now 1.56L...even If i service it thrice and change brake pads/discs one it will not be beyond 1.5L. I don't see my car crossing more than 20k Kms in the next 3-4 years but I do intend to hold on to it for 6-7 yrs.

I have the full BMW secure already to cover engine or other issues.
Please let me know!!
