CLS63 AMG or M5

Need to book a swanky car for my cousin who is starting school in Boston this august. Have boiled down to these two choices.....we are more inclined to the CLS63 AMG which is replacing the 55 amg early this fall in USA.Which one would you pick?

I'd say the BMW M5...i don't personally fancy the looks of the Merc CLS

And if hes' driving, BMW M5 might just suit him better

Karthik, you should have a looks a the CLS in real life,it is drop dead gorgeous, pictures dont do justice to this car.

But since the person concerned is young a M5 or E63 will definately suit him better.

M5's are fussy and not that marvallous at low speeds. Also a bit fussy and known for the odd software glitch.

CLS easier to live with.

If he pushes the car hard (in Boston ?) - then the M5
For an enjoyable bruiser cruiser CLS

boston has terrible roads as far as i know..i would go with the CLS, even if it had silk roads i would have gone for the CLS, M5 is really hard core and if he taking the car to the track, its a different thing else CLS is always a top choice..

The M5 has to be it. For one M-divison cars are much more focused and special then AMG albeit you cousin should be someone who enjoys driving and then again there is always the V10 engine revving upto 8250 rpm what fun!!

Boston or no boston, It has to be the M5! Reasons aside....it is the ultimate driving machine.

BTW nice way to start school in the USA.

Thanks for the reply guys....As ajmat rightly pointed out, the M5 is not good at low speeds and boston's roads and traffic are amongst the worest in the US. So the CLS63 AMG has been booked....its sad that MB cant even given xenons on such an expensive car! Have choosen the premium2 package so that all the goodies like xenon are thrown in.....the dual spoke alloys are a whooping 9000$ more! All the options on this car are realllly expensive.
Judging by the reviews on some mags the CLS is an M5 beater as its less hassel free and faster than the m5.Am waiting to get my hands on the phone padle shifted :-)
@GTO- Cousin's not starting off his schooling, is doin his MBA this is his 3rd car in the US....first being a 540i and then M3 which is why he wanted to move on from the beamer segment and shift to MB this time.

It all depends on what magazine you pick up bro... I totally disagree.

First off i think CLS 63 is taking on M6 so to compare it with M5 is not the best idea...

Maybe in a straight line 0-60 CLS might take the lead (I have my doubts) but if you want total driving experience (awesome around corners) then its BMW no doubt.

I would have gone for M6 in that price range. There are lot of options in that price range... but I guess it all boils down to individual likes and dislikes.
