Oops, The lack of spare wheel just didn't enter my mind but I don't think the run-flats are that bad to be a deal-breaker and is there no place to keep the spare wheel in the boot, may be sacrifice little of boot space?

PS (A suggestion to you): Please use the Multi-Quote option rather than back to back posts that you have done.

Uh oh. Goofed on the multi quote. Will do it for sure. Thanks for that Anurag.

Coming to keeping the spare wheel in the boot. Would be kinda difficult to strap in and moreover not keen on compromising on boot space.

4.Skoda Superb
5.Mercedes E250 CDI
6.Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel
For the requirements you mentioned, the E looks to be a perfect fit. It looks great with the recent facelift, oozes quality, and even fulfills your requirement of having a spare wheel in the boot.

As an alternate choice, it maybe worth checking out the 3GT. The car is excellent on space, should be easier in city driving conditions due to its compact size (in comparison with the E and 5), and it actually looks good too. Happy shopping!

I am no expert, but I simply love the looks of the new E Class.
Does MB also have a BMW shield like BMW does? If it does, then the decision has been made easier.

Skoda Superb is also worth a look, as you already have a relationship with the A.S.S

Yeah, they do have a service package plus and additonal 4th year warranty. Looks good.

Superb is a good choice. The only drawback is the lack lustre Media centre which looks ancient! The engine isnt as powerful as well.

OK, Family already likes the E class and you have warranty till 4th year, but as per the feedback on the forum, Mercs are very heavy on maintenance post the warranty period. I am not sure if this is the case with the new Mercs.
As you intend to retain the car for > 4 Yrs, this is a gamble you should think over.

Mercs of today do fare better than atleast the BMWs so that shouldn't be an issue also their A.S.S. has the most experience and isn't bad to deal with.

Good to note, did you find any ownership reviews of the new Mercs on the forum.

This may not be applicable to all cities. The experience varies from city to city.

slackyboy has to find out who has the better ASS and who are easier to deal with in Chennai , BMW or MB.

Spoke to a few Merc and BMW owners. Both seem to be happy with Trans car (Merc) and Kun (BMW). A few who experienced both seem to prefer The Merc ASS.

Re: Which Luxury Sedan to replace my Laura 1.9 PD?

My preference will be the Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel.
Plush ride, great ergonomics, a great upgrade and most importantly, the exclusivity!!

Just two reasons why I did not go for the XF 2.2 diesel,

1. The rear headroom was not good and a slight feeling of being cramped was felt.

2.The engine was not as responsive as in the E250cdi, again my feeling.

Other than that its a fabulous car!! Family simply loved the comfort and all back high quality interior of the Mercedes. So did I . Ultimately i was swayed by the ride quality and sheer solidity of the Merc.

Apart from the exclusivity, the XF simply doesn't make any sense in the executive luxury sedan segment today. It has seen too many generations of its competitors go by and is way too dated is many departments.
