Are you kidding?! Of course you need the power! You can't have too much power unless you're talking of over 350-400 bhp!

The Skoda RS has a 1.8T Audi engine which in India is detuned to put out 150BHP (outside India 180BHP). If the Audi A4 has that engine, its an utter dream to drive - good low down torque - you can stick it in 5th gear and trundle along at 1200/1300 RPM in traffic or boot it and it will pin you back in your seat at 2000 rpm when the turbo kicks in.

The few Audi A4 sedans I've seen so far were all the 2.0 TDi which I assume is the same block as the Passat.

UPDATE

Bombay offering the A4 Diesel With S-line trim @ 25L Ex-showroom. Approx Discount 4.65L
Petrol A4 1.8T @ 24.5L

Delhi Offering 4L discount with the S-line trim on either petrol or Diesel

I am told Diesel is a better buy but I think if I get a better deal on the Petrol then so be it. Is anyone aware of the maintainence aspects of the two options ??

The only problem getting from Bombay is Driving it down as container truck will cost a lot & chance of damage.

Let's see how it turn out.

Cheers

take the diesel with the sline trim. it looks good plus you have a couple of features over the standard. the diesel is slightly slower than the 320d.

No problem, I'm already experienced in the Delhi-Mumbai sector (Evil Twin drive!) so if you need help, feel free to ask

I'd go for the Diesel, the price difference will get covered with your fuel bill savings in a year or two. And the diesel will be peepier to drive too.

Just make sure you don't drive at a fixed engine speed for long stretches. It's the worst thing you can do to a new engine. As long as you keep varying engine speed, you'll be fine, and a BIG PLUS...by the time you reach Delhi, your car will be more or less run-in!

Do you really want to buy a car that is going to be replaced by the all new gen very soon?

Go for the 320D. It completely annihilates the 320i, and is a pretty spirited diesel. IMHO, its a lot better overall car for India than the 325.
I second that. Totally!

A4 dosent look appealing especially after looking at the new A4.
I think the price difference between a new 2007 320d and 2007 A4d would be close to 4-5 lakhs max, but the Bimmer is well worth it.
