no_limit,

I have driven the Audi A6 3.0 TDI Quattro in India back to back with the BMW 525d.

Thought the Audi A6, has a slightly better ride, the BMW comes trumps up in all other departments. It's a much better driver's car compared to the Audi.

The 530d will be a monster compared to the A6.

I have never driven a BMW diesel road car, but owing a pertol merc and a diesel Audi, I can definitely say that I prefer my diesel audi for my every day commute to work, over my Merc..(and no diesel is not cheaper in England )

Now THAT surely says something about the Audi Diesels Having said that I guess it is upto an individual's choice at the end of the day !!

Some like an apple but some prefer an orange

Cheers

One more query

Thanks a ton for all the comments.
I still want to know one thing
bmw comes with a 3 litre engine with 237 bhp whereas audi A4 comes with a 3.2 litre engine with 267bhp with all wheel drive.

so i wanna know which is more powerful because it looks like on paper audi looks more powerful and has all wheel drive.
just a question because lot of them posted 530d is more powerful .
just wanna know what you think.

ps: will be doing a test drive for 530d today.
:( audi people unfortunatly still doesnn have a A4 3.2L test car .

The Audi 3.2 is probably detuned for India as its a petrol, hence dont go by the figures posted.Similarly the 530i is also detuned to tackle poor fuel quality...and if you read the disclaimers it says the specs posted on the india site as taken from abroad specs which may differ.
Hence the 530i posted as 6.4 or so 0 to 100 is not true, the indian spec one is a second slower due to the detuning. Checkout the previous ACI and overdrive issue that show both 525d and 530i neck to neck in performance.

The diesels are NOT detuned so you get what you see...500nM of torque!!

BMW 530i or BMW 530d ??

I scraped the idea of getting an A4 3.2 after having a test drive of 530d and thanx to team bhp too.

Now my issue is whether to get a 530d or 530i .

Now 530d is more economical but i wanna know whether there is a drastic diffrence in performance when compared to a petrol version. it will be great if you people could guide me .

ps: thanks to team bhp that i scrapped A4 and i feel it was a right choice
thanks guys

Sorry Sujithnk uncle I accidently pressed the enter button and I sent the message.

I think you should buy the Audi A4 3.2 Quatro because
1.It has more power
2.It looks better
3The A4 has Quatro (All wheel drive)

Fantastic suggestion danlalan. Even I would have made the same. Its supposed to be a very fast car with good levels of equipment and space.May not be as involving as a BMW, my not have the badge value, but it sure seems value for money.I think the thread starter should TD this one atleast, even if he does'nt buy it.

Hey Sujithnk, congrats on ur purchase!

Well, one thing is sure about the A4 3.2 fsi, its very powerful, and sounds and goes like a sports car! the sound when u get when u rev it, is mesmerising!

But then, the 530d seems a more practical choice. with very good pickup in itself, the diesel engine gives a good mileage, and is bigger than the A4 too. also, a different level!

I testdrove the 530d, was fantastic! but settled for the 520d!

Hey insane devil thanks. i was really confused but later i decided that 530d was bigger as u said and almost as powerful like A4 3.2 and people olso know i spent 51 lakhs now that counts too.

trust me then interiors are soo much better like posher what i mean is there are no plastics used. A4 which is 36 lakhs and the 3.2 with all the upgrades cost me like 51 lakhs which is the 530 bracket doesn't give the feel of a very posh vehicle especially when i sit in it . i felt 530 gives me enough power for indian roads and gives me a feeling when i sit in it that i am in heaven with all the pampering it gives u .
this is my view and could be wrong but what made me go for 530 instead of A4 3.2 is
1. interiors
2. size
3. gadgets
4. diesel which is economical and is as powerful to a petrol

5. TRUST ME THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
THE SERVICE PACKAGE THEY HAVE WHICH COST ME 2.70 LAKHS WHICH WILL TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING INCLUSIVE OF MY PARTS AND LABOUR COST FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS OR 100000 KMS WHICH EVER COMES FIRST .

6. AUDI DEALERSHIP IS GONE TO PENISULAR HONDA IN COCHIN AND TRUST ME THOSE PEOPLE ARE CRAP AND THEY JUST DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. WITH MY ACCORD THEY ALWAYS DO TRIAL AND ERROR METHODS TO FIND FAULTS.

so thats why i chose 530d in cochin than A4 3.2
THIS IS MY VEIW AND CAN DIFFER FROM OTHER PEOPLE
