Like the old one better. And the last pic is just a photoshopped pic of a W221 S.

...and I suggest we don'[t take this thread off topic.

I also like old (current) one.

So, probably it is more suitable for one who can afford C but can extend it only few bucks, than it is the best one to buy. (E in price of C)

I don't know if anybody noticed this but the E and the C seem to be going in the direction of the BMW design philosophy see the side profile pictures and the new BMW 7 series and to be launched 5 series have less edgy and more rounded windows and lights are round like the previous gen Merc C and E class. Looks like an internal understanding between the 2 marks to alternate. I like the front stance of the new E it looks aggressive yet stylish need to see the rear in the flesh. I suppose people will eventually start liking the E as they did with previous designs which were initially not really accepted. Buy the E when it is launched as prices are keener and you loose less (resale value) after 5 to 6 years as the new car prices keep shooting up in the model life cycle therefore even if you have a smaller engine or different/lower spec the 2nd hand market remains strong as buyers want the current look and don't care so much about spec as much as having the current look

Totally! The new S seems to have followed the previous gen 7, while BMW themselves have abandoned their quirky design philosophy and come back on the right path. With the new 7!

I never really liked BMW's but I agree the new 7 does look much better than the previous piece of lard/ barge like flatbed thing.

But for me it will always be the three pointed star I am a bit old school indian nothing comes close seeing that star when you drive any MB sedan

May buy a BMW as a 2nd or 3rd car but MB's will always have a special place in my heart

The current E class is way better than the incoming model IMHO. There is some special scheme being launched in a day or two (just got off the phone with the dealer)

Cheers

In my honest opinion the new E-Class looks really good. Looks like Mercedes are moving away from the round contours to more sharp edges as they did with the C-Class.

With respect to the discounts on the current E-Class, I had read in some magazine a month or two back that its up to 8.x figure in terms of cash discounts and 3-4% loan paybacks. I believe its a great deal as you would get an E-Class for almost the price of a C-Class :-)

Just read in today's news paper,

E is available for 0% interest for 3 years. (Thats a wonderful deal)

And i am sure it must be complimented with some discounts also.

Again IMO its best buy for someone who are going for C / 3 (A class above)

Mercs response to BMWs ownership plans seems to be coming along. FINALLY! There was a mention of "Star Care" coverage on the E Class. Though only for 3 years, I bet it will have a full fledged launch with 5 years coverage.

Nice! Finally they wake up. Any more details of the Star Care? Pricing etc?

I believe in times to come, 3years/60,000kms maintenance will be covered for free. The germans follow this policy almost worldwide now.

the E-class is going for a rough 2.5 L Discount upfront right now. May go up as the new launch comes closer. Or maybe the rest of the stock might be lapped up by the three pointed star Fans. However the best discounts right now are going in for the outgoing Audi A6. i Say give it a look, it's going for a 4L discount, and a zero interest finance scheme etc. You could maybe bargain a bit more in person.

Well thank you for the info redeff. Please do update me if you find any dealer giving more discount. The emphasis is on the Merc because of its "Snob value" being higher.lol.
