18-21 Lac Budget > New Accord or Outgoing Passat/Superb or 2nd hand 320i

the topic says it all...i am ridiculously confused between the above choices! the outgoing Passat & Superb are available at great discounts...specially the petrols but the newer updated versions are just around the corner and i hate having that 'why did i do that?!?' feeling (did it for the CR-V and then promptly upgraded to the newer one).

the accord is just a beauty! alternatively as much as my brain says 'stick to the accord', it aint no Bimmer! but i can't go up to 28-32 lacs for a new 320i/320d. found some dealers in Delhi offering the 320i sparesely driven (2008-8k) for about 21.5lacs; will schedule a test drive sometime this week..or early next. will it be worth it?

The Passat is a dud (search within the forum) and the Superb, well, only if you intend to be chauffeur-driven. Even then, there are better cars.

I'd say:

Choice ONE : Spanking new Accord. Simply put, this is the most sensible luxury car you can buy today. Size XL, massive interior space, great ride quality, good power and stellar reliability. Decent resale and extremely low ownership costing makes it a compelling choice.

Choice TWO : Used 320D / 325i. Look for one that has the 5 year coverage, else you'll have to break the bank.

I would rather choose a swanky new Accord than a 320i.

If i had to choose the BMW, i wouldn't go for the 320i , I'd rather go for a 320d or a 325i.

The 320d does 13-14 kms to a litre in the city....DIESEL

The 325i does (according to the BMW guys) 5 kmpl on PETROL

Make your choice.

Cheers

A new car is a new car. And besides an Accord is a great car. A used Bimmer, hmmm unless the warranty is covering it for all the time you gonna own it, I would pass.

I will not put my money on anything else than an Accord. The most practical luxury car in it's price range now.
It will take you places in good comfort, reasonable power, mighty presence and quiet economically too. It also assures you good service, bullet proof reliability and peace of mind.

The Accord will complement your CR-V and Civic family. The Bimmer's cramped in the rear. I'm 6'1+ and I had a god awful time in the back of the E90.

Let me tell you something

When i give my skoda for a service, I am on tenterhooks and calling to find out what is happening

When I give my Swift or Honda - I just dropped the car, gave instructions and worried no further

Well, Why to spend 20 Lac rupees on a used Car?

BMW / Merce are fantastic cars.

But it will make you cry when you go for a service / Maintenance.

Especially when they are old (in your case)!

So better to go what everybody says; ACCORD & only ACCORD.

May be you can go for an AT, & make yourself extremely comfortable.

Dont even think of Passat / Skoda.

Recently GTO has put an excellent quote about skoda, that even Fabia's maintenance is costly compare to Accord!!!

I can even guess about superb's maintenance!!

So, think wisely, dont go for faulty status (with crying) by going used BMWs.

Stick to the Accord AT & postpone your dream 3 series / C class for next 4-5 years.

Speeding m8 what is your driving requirement. Are you looking for a chauffeur driven car?
If yes then Accord is the way to go.
BMW 320i if you want a class uplift (if it matters to you)/self driven car.I have driven the 320i and it is not underpowered in any way.
Also what kind of mileage you thinking of putting on the new buy of yours?
Cheers

Go in for a new accord, you will never egret.
besides, spending rs 20 lakh on a "used" car just for the sake of brand will leave you nowhere.
BMW does not even come with a stepney.
run flat tyres are very harsh and lots of people have complained about tyre treads popping out.

Both cars have their positives and negatives but in this 320i, only the badge can save it next to the accord and maybe the RWD factor.

I own the new accord and believe me,it is a huge improvement over the previous accord the cabin is enormous the build quality and the plastic quality is the best among the japanese marques(though not close to European standards). The A/t I own is super responsive and peppy. Its a brilliant automobile.

That's true too.

I agree with the majority. Go with the Accord.

But if you are considering the Passat and Superb then why not the Toyota Camry?

you may some how get the german but the running cost will always be cheaper on the japs.(maintaining Asians(includes indians) is easy )
go with the accord as people here are saying don't go for a 2nd hand car if ur spending any thing more than 10 lakhs.
