Folks

The MIVEC sounds like a nice project but I'm not sure if I have the time and energy to go through the process. Also very likely wifey ain't going to approve it for sure.

I'm pretty much decided on the 4x4 3.6 FSI and would likely book the car on "Akshay tritiya" (coming Monday). Going for the black this time as never owned a black car so far. Also what is city mileage I should expect ? About 5-6 kmpl. The small tank size of 60 l worries me a bit besides the A.S.S concern. But there isn't any other option in the market that suits all my requirements.

Diesel looks a more practical choice but perhaps 167 PS/363 Nm (chipped) would not be very satisfying.

If he really want a performance oriented, why not go in for the old gen accord (2 gens older) and get a swap like the B16b or even a H22, this car will cost less, have honda reliability, the looks, ready made performance parts and asthetics parts. It is also a bigger car than the lancer and thus more useful for siting 2 behind comfertably.
Thus we get a great performing daily drive.

No i wasnt talking about the V6 ones, the older gen than that, but yes that is a good idea, but IMO the old gen looks much more better than the newer ones.
Here is the one i am talking about, the 2.3 L

There are 2 Mivecs on TBHP for sale, AFAIK. I'm sure if you PM Sideways -- our resident expert on all things Mitsubishi -- he will be happy to guide you to what to expect.

Well i'd really ask you to stay off the tuned and modded cars.Mivec, skoda RS all.

but 3.6 skoda.its fast and is fast from the factory.not parts to be installed.no modifications to be done.get a remap later on and you'll be happy.Reliability and modifications are opposite ends till now in india.

Remap is also pretty safe.as its already tested abroad on numerous cars.just like your audi q7.

all the bast of on buying your performance sedan.and do post a good review.as mu next purchase is also on cards.

guys, no offence to anyone but he has a close to 30 lac budget. i dont think racerboy cars like the mivec will suit him when he can get bigger, more comfortable, more powerful cars in that budget.

IMO a mivec would suit someone who wants a fast car in a budget of say 10-12 lacs. his budget caters to a whole different segment.

just my opinion.

Was thinking, cant he just import a car? a good and fast one?

See, a mitsu evo X is comming to about 25 lacs imported in india by mitsu, so it should be similar for him, im just saying.

The superb is a great car, but skoda is just pathetic, dude, isnt the A4 with the same heart? so cant he go with it?

But dude how much is the import cost? i mean customs? the price in US is about 35k $ so means around 17 lacs, so why double? shouldnt it cost then under 30 lacs to him? I mean that car is just fabulous, and it would be perfect for him.

Thanks akshay1234. Yes I'm not very keen on heavily tuned/modded cars. Need something that is closer to the stock.

So finally today is the d-day for booking. I'm pretty much set on the 3.6 FSI. As I read on some other forums this engine is the same as R36 albeit a detuned one (Same as 3.6 V6 on Q7). Plus a 4 wheel drive option is too delicious/inviting to ignore.

Since my running wouldn't be high (max 5000 kms/year) on this car, I'm not much concerned about the mileage. However the presumably horrendous depreciation would mean I would have to stick with this car for more than the 2 years I normally do with my other cars. But ultimately it is the passion that counts more for me so I'm kind of allowing myself into this indulgence.

If only 2.0TSI was also available here (the one available in China) it would have been a more practical choice.

Plus another good thing with V6 is that one year down the line when I'm getting bored with 260 bhp it can be spruced up to 320 bhp easily with not very major mods to the engine to revive interest in the car .

I was browsing through briskoda.net and found there are many mouth watering possibilities to keep oneself engaged with this engine for quite some time.

Good choice. But you won't be able to drive it carefree in the city, that's for sure.

Yes perhaps. I'd need to be a bit careful as I currently do with my Civic. For runs into the crowded/old areas of the city usually I take refuge in my i-10 Asta AT or the Innova . OT (Sorry) but Innova has really proven to be a lovely versatile friend never asking for much and always performing its duties without any complaints.
