The review of British cars on Top Gear is always biased or at least I have felt that way. I am not saying the XF is a bad choice, just saying that ONLY because Top Gear gave it good reviews doesn’t make it a good choice. I remember when they did a review on off-roaders in Dubai on one of the episodes way back in 1998 they came out and said Range Rover was the best choice but when they were doing various tests like incline/decline and some other stuff it was very evident that the Nissan Patrol was way better. (This is just one I remember vividly but I have noticed many more)

Coming back to the main question, my suggestion will be to go for a M3 anyday!

Why mod an M3?

If you want a mad M3, just get the Hamann Thunder. The M5's V10 engine in an M3. What more could anyone want?

M3 , GTR , C63 or 911 seem the choice of all . In my opinion a Mustang or Shelby would look quite unique here . If you are actually looking for some car which you want to tune into a monster then look for some . I feel reliability decreases when you tune your ride improperly . So the best would be amongst all those mentioned before on the thread . They are unique yet practical . This is what would work in India .

Sorry. Been a bit busy. Its the M3 Coupe in white.

By the way, found out that Mercedes are being serviced by the Skoda service centre here. And i have faced enough problems with them for our old Laura.

You're gonna need a lot of booster then... You should import tanker-fulls of sweet high octane petrol.
