Cayenne GTS or BMW X6? EDIT : Decided on Cayenne!

Hello tBHP!
as we sold our Q7 a few days ago we are planning to buy another luxury SUV ( budget doesn't matter)

we dont want to buy an X5 because we already have it
we dont want to buy the VW Touareg or the Toyota landcruiser

please help me decide which car to buy amongst these 2. (if there are any other better cars please do mention them)

regards
/Shreyas

Seems your mind is set for X6. PM Karl; he has one.

How much did you sell the Q7 for? And how was the expericence owning it?

Well,
1) X6 has a very good engine, the same engine available in latest 7 series.
X6 is not very fuel efficient.
This is a thread of Karl taking his X6 into Himalayas.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/super-...himalayas.html

2) Cayenne as we all know is very good on the road. Handling, etc are all good. Dont know about FE, but IMHO, this is overall a better SUV as I feel that X6 is rather a crossover. I have also read that Cayenne is going to be launched with 3.0 ltr. V6 diesel motor.

IMHO, BMW has a better service package as compared to Porsche.
Here is a thread started by someone whose friend bought a Cayenne:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...u-bet-can.html
I think this might help you in contacting and receiving reviews.

3) The other SUV is Volvo. From what I have read, XC90 is one SUV that is not having a single fatality ( read this in ACI ). That is the safety record. This car is also available in diesel format.

4) Why you are not interested in LC as now its latest 200 format with a good diesel ?

well the x6 isnt supposed to be really comfy for the rear seat people and its not that big. its a crossover.

the gts on the other hand is a great car. the ride is stiff but boy is it fast. if your looking for something really comfortable and your gonna be in the backseat id suggest the landcruiser.

I would strongly suggest you look at the Range Rover range.

Hey shreyas28 I have been in the same boat exactly and was confused between GTS and X6...i ended up with Range rover sport 2010 model Cayenne GTS has really bad back seats and for the GTS version they are sport seats which are quite hard and uncomfortable, also not to forget the 21" rims GTS comes with so say good bye to even little offroading ( indian potholes ).

X6 has the same issue as the back seats are too cramped. I have test driven both.

But Spiff, in your signature it says you're getting the Cayenne S. Or are you getting both the Range Rover and the Cayenne?

will it be used by you most of the time? if yes, why a suv? why not a m3 or a 911 or slk amg?

but if its for the house, would suggest the range rover rather than the above two options.

my friends own both the GTS and the X6 out of the two it is a tough call. I liked both power delivery wise. Comfort wise for the rear passangers it has to be the GTS. Looks the X6 takes the cake as the GTS looks like any other Cayanne on the road. Wheel options are limited for the GTS as they are 21" like pointed out and not suited for our road conditions, the X6 on the other hand can be had with three wheel options i think.
Why dont you look at the ML as well. It is not as powerful as the other two but not dissapointing in anyway either. My CDI is quick enough to take on the GTS in semi traffic conditions. Looks and interior wise i feel it looks better than any of its competition.
Hope you make the best choice suited to your needs.

You cannot compare these two. Bmw X6 is not an SUV, its an SAC.
If you are talking about SUV its about family and space.
Cayenne is very good, nice space and powerful. Or if not a Porsche go then for a range rower.
X6, it doesn't even has a third row. Its not practical in terms of comfort
but its got loads of power and think 0-100 in 5.4! Wow!
Its more of fun than practicality. And it has this monstrous looks, i love it.
If its for your personal use then, X6. But for your family, ..nah!

Hmmmmmmmm.

I myself love the new Mercedes M Class or even the New G Wagon looks good and atleast at standstill both are very comfortable.

I sat in the Range Rover Sport and the Discovery at the Showroom and the seats are a peace of ****. The Range Rover seats are a bit more comfortable but I would not want to go out in Mumbai's potholes with a Hard Seat like that.

I sat in the X30 at the Showroom and I have to say it is the most Stupid SUV just like the Range Rover Sport and the Discovery.
You nearly have to leap off the vehicle.
LOL

The Volvo X90 seems like a more sensible choice though I have not sat inside it.

Where is the Volvo Dealership in Mumbai ? Some Phone numbers please.

so you can figure out how good the ride of a car is just by sitting in it in the showroom?

It's a though call but I'd get the Cayanne GTS,prime reason being that you already have an X5.
The X6 wouldn't feel alll that diff compared to the X5, not to mention the interior space is cramped. Getting the GTS will add another brand to your garage.

As per as ownership costs/experience goes the X6 has a great BSI package for a price, but the GTS has free 3 years maintaince! This was on offer till a few months back, check with your local Porsche dealer.

Btw, why did you sell the Q7?
