I enquired at Nandi toyota yesterday about the Fortuner and the salesman says that the total number of fortuner to be produced this year is 700 and they already have 2300 bookings. So any fortuner booked now will be delivered only in the months of Jan and Feb. So there is no meaning even considering it.

Ramkumar, that is what the dealer's say. More often than not Toyota will ramp up production as they did not expect such a huge response. I would say hold on for a while and I'm sure the waiting will come down.

It is just the new car hype that is creating the long wait. It will all come down soon.

Could be true most likely but it is the style of most dealers to over-state the demand-supply to (a) persuade the customer to buy now and get the clock ticking (b) not having to give discounts.

Toyota is saying 2400 per annum of production.

Anyway Accord is in a different segment and has a different class than Fortuner. However, they are quite good substitutes.

Hyundai today gave me a Transform for half a day for TD. I have been driving the Sonata Transform since afternoon all over the city. The car that came to me was a CRDI automatic. The car is a brilliant car even though i didnt enjoy the automatic as much as in Superb, the accelerator seems to rise without reason between gears. i dont know if thats how automatics work but i am positive that it was not like this in the superb when i TD it yesterday. Sonata was very good once we cross 80kms speed it was cruising beautifully and didnt even feel like a diesel.
The luxury which Accord exudes is missing in the sonata even though its equally large. GC of the Sonata is more than the Accord.
Sonata diesel is cheaper by 3lacs than the Accord(petrol) on the road.
My heart is with Accord but my brain says Sonata.
Please help me make a decision.

You want only AT? Why not the Sonata Manual.

I am looking only at manuals but the Sonata that came was an automatic. I am now considering either the Accord 2.4 MT or the Sonata 2.0 CRdi MT.

I have to make a decision but totally confused.

my 2 cents

you can consider following parameters & makeup your mind

1. How latest is the design, Buying a modern design helps a lot.
2. what are the features being offered. Safety, Convenience, Entertainment, Luxury are key
3. Whether you need a SEDAN or an SUV like would do ?
3. Reliability of the car is extreemly important
4. Cost of ownership including service cost (and time)
5. Brand

If you look at the Brands & Products being offered i see the following

1. Toyota
2. Honda
3. Volkswagen
4. Skoda
5. Hyundai

I would go with the reliability, customer service and lower cost of ownership of Japanese brands. European cars are more known for build performance and also for customer service. But in India the European brands are not known fro customer service.

Don't buy the Manual Sonata without a TD. It's different because the engine has a bit of turbo lag which takes getting used to in the manual box.

Also if size is not an important criteria, you should also consider the VW Jetta. It's a really good car and the after sales is also better than Skoda.

They have a very nice 4.99% interest rate offer with a 4 year warranty and a 4 year maintenance plan. The DSG box with paddles and good handling make this a very fun car to drive.

But still is the wise 2nd choice, if you add the *** cost of skoda / VW or highly priced Camry.

Congrats on booking the Accord. Is petrol suitable for you?

why can't you test drive Captiva & Fortunner.should definitely fit the bill.

I'm sure waiting period of Fortunner comes down by at least a month or two.Its only the hype created by the dealers. Here lot of people have canceled the bookings after looking @ interiors.

Congrats on the Accord

Yep quite a few people have cancelled booking out here too seeing the interiors are similar to Innova though they were bowled over by exterior initially.

If kms/mth are more Sonata diesel would have more sense vs the accord petrol though it has poor resale.
