Yes, but it works in the way I've explained above and not for a period of 3/5 years from the date you purchase the plan (unless you're the first owner and purchased the plan on the same day as the date of invoice).
My bad guys. Sorry for the confusion. Turns out one of the salesmen was trying to play me, he never mentioned to be that the BSI would start from the date of invoice, until I just called him after reading your clarifications. Turns out the car was first registered in 2009 March, so the BSI starts from then the BMW representative said. So it should last until 2013 he said. Which doesn't make sense to me, because in that case it should last till 2014. In that case I'll be missed out on 1.5 yr of warranty.

Might still just be worth it ? I don't know... I've never received a service bill yet. Ask someone who's had a 3 for a while now. Look around the forums.

And get it explicitly clarified whether it's invoiced in March 09 or March 08, if he said 2013.
