A single owner '85 W123 Mercedes 240D

Saw a brilliant example of a 240D W123 the other day. Single owner since 1985 !! 1.35 on the odo....mouth watering, as I personally am a B I G fan of the W123. That typical mustard - yellow colour the it came in, original paint.

Was wondering if getting parts would be an issue, not that it needs any right now, but who knows, what comes up down the line. Any pointers ?

What would be a good price to pay for it ? No cookie cutter alloys, steel wheels with full standard caps. Tyres almost worn off, will need to replace first thing.

Only down side (for me). It is Bombay registered. So a check for rust would be in order. Tempting, but I doubt it'd be half as nice to drive as my W124 !!

Would the Merc Gurus kindly help me with this please...

Cheers

Single owner, original paint, well maintained W123? I know enthusiasts who would give their right arm for such a car. These kind of Mercs are very hard to come by and are lapped up quickly.

The way that I see it, for old cars, the right price is whatever the buyer & seller agree to. What is he quoting? Here's some threads you should look up before making an offer:

My original W123 240D

A pristine 240D

240d - Worth it?

Ricky_63,
I know of a similar car with same specifications, but that met with an accident (front collision) lately and was under repairs.
I hope and wish its not the same car. The car I am talking about used to be in a South Delhi Colony.
Post pictures if it isn't a problem.

This car does not seem to be accidental from any angle. Was the car you saw a Bombay Registered one ?

I do not have pics of the same, hence cannot post them. The car belongs to a collector, whose stable has quite a few brilliant old school Mercs, RR's & the like.

Thanks for the information though, will take a close look the next time around.

Ricky, parts are still available in Opera house Mumbai. I'd say go for it !!!!!!!! Get a hold of Merc expert like V16 if you need 1st hand confirmation.

Thanks for the information & the "encouragement" as of now I am totally happy with my 124 - UNLESS I can do a swap deal with the 123, which may or may not happen. No way do I want another car in front of my house.

Don't wan't neighbours wondering as to what I do for a living

Appreciate your input

Cheers

You take my 124 & I'll buy this MFC XXXX W123

I will only buy it under swap, no other way. The XC60 is also on the agenda, so I definately do not want to look like a taxi operator.

On a serious note = We are actually stuck on the price.

Cheers

I was in Delhi from 9-11 Oct, and had the privilege of checking out this collector's garage. The W123 is in brilliant condition. And its 100pct stock, barring the ICE setup .

If only I had the money, would have paid for it on the spot!

- There was also a white Heckflosse parked in line. Is it still there or sold?
