Luxury Car Dilemma

Now that the C180 is finally out of the garage its time for its replacement. We were initially sold on the E 270 Cdi but kept delaying the purchase as the car kept getting more and more common. The best alternative I could think off was the A6 or 530i. The A6 is going to be sent to my dad this week for a complete test day(they want to send it for an entire day not just a drive ) and is priced at close to 44 lakhs. I belive the car has alot more to offer than the E and would also look different amongst the numerous E's that have flooded mumbais streets. But the Audi is still termed as 'The poor mans Merc' The tempting part is that the E 280 is due to launch at 41 lakhs in a couple of weeks. With 190 bhp under the hood and test proving a below 8 seconds touch to 100km/hr it sure seems tempting. Last but not the least my personal fav -the 5 series, i am not sure if its worth getting one imported as BMW is due to launch it in 2007 futhermore i dont have a price qoute on the 530i otr mumbai. Please poll in to which car u feel is the best amongst the 3, also if u guys have any additional info on these cars then do let me know. Thanks.

dude ur A6 would be like fresh on bombay streets ... but if the import scene is the only reason your not buyina a bmw then i think you should re-consider
remember even import cars are adjusted for indian conditions u getme... the suspension and stuff and relying on dates for car launch either on the paper or salesperson is dicey
being a bmw fan dude i would def opt for the 530i and the price i would guess be a couple of lakhs here and there but reachin that segment such minor differences dont really count

I would go for 530 blindfolded, mav is there to provide parts and service.

Its a CBU just like the Audi so its not gonna cost you more. Know someone who recently picked up an A6 in Hyd...paid close to 53L on road. He bought it just to have something unique.

Isnt the Indian A6 a front wheel drive? There is no way I would pay anything over 15 lacs for a FWD car.

I suggest closely test driving the Beemer and the E280. Call Navnit - I know they offer awesome support. You can also try PMing Maverick since he works there.

Test drive the 530d with Navnit and then consider. But I will tell you one thing, driving the BMW is a different experience altogether. It proves "DIESEL ROCKS"...and you get a lot more options than the E and the A6.

But remember if you travel out of town on bad roads, the BMW runflat tyres limit your distance to 100km or if you get a flat unless you carry a spare - you might need to replace the tyre after that.

You can delete the RFT option while booking the car. They will provide you with normal tubeless tires

Dude,
get the A6 with its awesome 3.0 V6 TDi engine.
The BMW is quite cool but i doubt f your dad would be comfortable in it assuming he likes to sit in the back seat most of the time.
The E class is too common and the E280 wouldn't have the same brand value anymore. Earlier Mercedes was prestigeous because it was the super rich persons car but now it has become too common and hence even brand value is being lost.

I would pick a Beemer everytime but if the Audi makes more sense to you go for it...they are hardly seen on roads.

The Audi A6 would be really great. Merc's are gettin very common and so are BMW's. IMO Audi would have a better performance than the other two.
