well considering the price you would expect that they did but apparently the diesels only started coming with xenons a couple of months ago which really is a bit annoying.

Just a reminder, the CAN-Bus might not let the lights work without a software update even if you do find and fit them.

The easiest option for you is to go to Jag and get them to retrofit the xenons for you. Both the headlamp units will probably have to be changed.

Otherwise just get some Philips can-bus compatible Xenons.

Re: Headlight change on a Jag XF 3.0 S (diesel)

Don't do any 3rd party fitment as Warranty will become void and you may ruin the car. Xenon lights in XF are a factory fitted option and has to be ordered in the beginning itself. Or talk to your dealer maybe he can offer you a complete headlight unit change, but it will cost you a bomb.
Xenon lights were standard in U.K. On all Portfolio models. We bought the Premium Luxury model and it came with Halogen lights only.

Best will be to use the car for this year. Next year you will get the locally assembled new model which will come with Xenons & LED lights, 8 speed gearbox and a host of other additional features. Better will be to swap this car with a new model next year. That's what we are going to do.

Well i have the option of waiting it out for the new car as you suggested although i have heard it is going to be powered by a 2.2 litre V4 twin-turbo plant (which is less powerful i.e. 190 bhp as compared to the 275 available now).
On the other hand i can just shell out the dough to replace the headlight units through Jag.
Oh and by the way the 2011 diesel XF's (premium luxury) are coming with bi-xenons now.

The more powerful option will always be there. The 2.2 will be an entry level powertrain akin to the Bimmer 520d or the A6 which will be launched with the 2.0tdi.

Well like Akshay has written, all currently available engines will continue to be sold. 2.2L is just an additional engine to cater to the entry level 4 cylinder market requirement. I don't think anybody who has experienced the thrills of 3.0 D S will come down to 2.2L. In U.K the normal 3.0D is also available in a cheaper 240 PS model, which will also be introduced in India.

I still suggest not to tinker with the existing car and save your money for the new model 3.0D S in which you will get lot more goodies than just the lights.

It should come early next year. But your dealer will be the best source of info. Why dont you post your ownership review.
