3D KAGU & Other Premium Mats

There is a advertisement in Overdrive July from Sai Mag Wheels for their 3D mats with name of Star Car Mats, any one tried those? kagu seems to be costly option for me

Visit to Sai Mag Wheels is always surprising, especially for their core line of Alloy Wheels but the latest visit was far more interesting. The latest from their end apart from Anodized Alloy Wheel Finish are Star Car Mats aka 3D ones. Like many have mentioned, they're tailor made for your car hence no cutting or other modifications as required in general mats.

I shall be getting a set for my Uncle's ANHC, Beige ones. Price wise, they're competitive with three price levels- INR 3500 for Indus, 3200 for Atlas and 2400 for Sigma, prices are quality specific not car specific. It means Indus is priced at INR 3500/set, whether it's for a 7 Series or for an i10.

I loved the Black one, but for that I need to have a Blackbuster Cruze. The Metal Garnish on driver side to protect wear and tear on Mat from the Right foot looks a lot sporty. Further, I loved the fact that I won't have to deal with a new mat's Industrial Odour when I get one for my Uncle's car.

I'm attaching few pics of Indus model, the highest quality Mats in Gautam's VW Vento.

I don't think those are 3D mats, they are just cut to size for the car.

Wow!! These 3D mats look really good all weather mats. They will be helpful retaining water and mud. They are a bit pricey though but someone recently tried to sell me plain old rubber mats for 3.5k odd rupees. Going by that, they seem to be a reasonable deal. I hope they have a set for the fiesta. Will inquire tomorrow!

These mats are really good. I bought them for my Vento recently for 4.6k from Torque, Indiranagar. However, beware. There are other 3D-imitation mats in the market. Look for the 3D logo and the braided pattern carefully on the mats. Here is a pic:

Fully agree with nileschch's post. From the pictures of the Star mats, I can safely say that the Kagu 3D mats look to be of much better quality and with higher raised edges.

Also, they are generally priced at around 4.5 to 5k as well so anything priced too low is fake IMHO.

Akshay, as far I'm aware 3D Mats is the brand behind these custom mats and regarding specs, I think the 3D thing actually has to do with the Material and Braided Pattern, which Star Mats have. I personally saw those and shall be getting the same one for ANHC.

I think the term '3D' has the same reference as 'Campa' has been for colas.

itwasntme, a competitor to 3D Mats, no matter which brand and at what price range, if sells the same concept that doesn't mean it's fake. It's Competition, pure Economics buddy. You and I are also free to import and sell the same under our own brand-names, it's an open market.

Regarding Quality, you ought to to check Sai Mag Wheels profile on TBHP. By far, one of the oldest and quality-centric importers of Alloy Wheels in the country. They won't stake their reputation made over these long years by selling inferior products under their reputed brand-name.

I beg your pardon but how can one judge quality by merely looking at pics?

I think by 3D they mean even the raised edges, which makes it a perfect fit for the footwell. These are just cut to size, and maybe 2D?

Akshay, cut-to-size, I don't think so! They do have those raised upper edges on the sides and front/reat to accommodate to the Car's specs. The pictures might not be able convey the same but take a look at this Mobile Uploads | Facebook

3D is the brand name of the company that makes these mats from Taiwan,

3D Mat

Kagu is a type of material that these mats are available in. A plusher option is also available in a carpet type material. (Kagu option is a bit cheaper)

I picked up a carpet type set for my Swift from Hot tracks, Blore who as far as im aware of is the distributor for India. Cost was 5 K, worth it as the quality is very good & they are very very easy to clean. Looks elegant too.

Got for my safari. Cost me 5.3K. Came custom for Safari. I'm happy with the fit and with monsoon here it seems to be doing well. Easy to clean too.
