The first Maruti 800 was launched way back in 1984 and still is plying on the road.Spotted an interesting conversion of the popular car, which was converted into a 2-door pickup. Some might find the modifications wacky, but we find it cool. The modifications are very subtle and executed on the original Maruti 800, which could be more than 20 years old today. The spare wheel could have been mounted in a better way though. What do you think of this modified Maruti 800? Do you like it?

Decent mod, makes it stand out in a crowd. I wonder what size rims he he running! Look like a probable 14 or even 15inch.

Not bad at all, I would say. The rear looks muscular as well.

Looks alright. The rear bumpers do not gel with the overall look. A slightly bigger bumper would look good, IMO.
Also, the rear glass could have been a bit bigger. Affects the rear visibility.
All in all, a decent job done there. Not too sure, if this would classify to go in the W&W thread.

Suzuki used to manufacture this for certain markets. It was called Suzuki MightyBoy.
This particular one looks okay. I saw a dark blue (or maybe it was Black) one based on the Type 1 M800 (the model after SS80) at Kozhikode many years ago, it was at night and the vehicle looked good.

There is an Australian Moghty Boy forum and what they have done done with these cars are real nice!

The rear glass on this car should've been a lot more larger.

Interesting Mod.

The body proportion was well maintained. Wonder if he has changed the rear suspension to heavy leaf springs along with the shocks. What should be the ideal payload for this one then? 0.5 ton or even less.

I found one such mod in Ahemdabad. It was in a garage just before the shelby hospital. Couldn't take a sanp as it was in a very busy turning always.
My 98 M800 is also due for such mods.
Now decided not to sell it.
No matter how many issues I face, right from the parking, regular transfers and finding a good service centre for it.
Thinking of converting it into a soft top since long.

I think this mod is just to show-off . Rear door cannot be opened and spare wheel obstruction

It looks like a fairly well executed mod. Like the rims

Here are two pics of another M800 converted to 2 door pickup that I spotted at Borivali, Mumbai. Even this example was clean and I actually liked the SUZUKI embossed on the rear door.

Interesting modification & not weird & wacky material I'd say. Innovation personified. Seems to stand a lot taller than a standard Maruti 800, so obviously has a modified suspension setup as well !!

Boss workman ship and finishing on this white one is far far superior then what I had seen and posted ages ago in wiered and wacky mods thread.

The Red one I saw in Mumbai CST Rd belonged to a scrap engine dealer and he was transporting the engines in the rear open portion,it had been altered at a road side welders and painters in CST Rd itself.It is again old shape 800 cc car , look at the rear wheels looks like alloy wheels painted black and inthe front are regular rims.
It had worn out tyres,and a big dent in left fender , I could not photograph it, Regards..........

But in pakistan version of 800 van is also sold even today as pickup truck as well as private van (our Maruti omini 1984 shape of round head lights)
