Ok, the revs are climbing as usual. But I have a feeling your final drive has been modded, because according to the stock ratios, you can't be pulling those kind of in-gear speeds.

And the Baleno has all its torque pretty much from idle, like a diesel. So your claim of zero low-end torque only strengthens my suspicion of mods.

This is just a thought if its wrong please correct me.When the windows are open, the air will enter and will accumalate towards the inside rear of the car making the car slower by sort of acting like a parachute.
I dont think you will ever see my car at the track.Maybe in may my dad might hand over the keys to some bangy bhpians to take the car to the track if the gods are kind!!!Till then dont worry,i'll be prayin.

Well yes with the windows open it does create a "drag" thus making the car a little slower .. Also i think that was one of the reasons that v1p3r's baleno was doing speeds of 140 km/hr on the straights from the usual 160 it did the previous track day .. Not to mention the lack of grip from the worn out rubber out of the last corner..

I think its about time that we check out ur car in person , what say blue boy ?? Gosh ur dad would let us take it to the tracks ???? Man and i thought my parents were nice ...

Exactly what i felt , if its got no low end torque then i expected it to be modified .. I might have a clue as to what could be done ..

When I say final drive, I mean differential. How would the 2nd gear change differential specs?

Yes, but having the windows open/closed will not change the speed at the same rpm. (it will alter the rpm&speed together at a fixed ratio)

Good point rehaan , completely forgot to ask about this .. Tyre upgrade too affects ur speedo readings , maybe that could explain the difference to a certain extent .. But still i fail to understand how binz says that the low end torque is near to zero on his baleno .. Weird , bangy boys better check his car out soon..

If your earlier car was a 118NE it might feel like a lot of low end torque, but if your earlier car was a mahindra it might seem like very little low end torque..
Question of perception i guess.
No point trying to quantify subjective values.

Also, does viper have stock tires on his baleno?

Whoa!!!.....my baleno is completely stock.See avatar.
About my low end torque...well....let me put it this way.
In the santro, from standstill in second i can pull the car with no hassles but in the baleno pulling it from 25 the car feels underpowered which is not in the case of other balenos.
U guys are free to check out the car...just tell me some dates and il try to arrange it.

I still feel that binz is unaware of the mods done to the car (it was bought 2nd hand and i hear the previous owners friend was into rallying) .. Its not stock .. Lets end the debate , binz how about getting the baleno on saturday for the meet ..
