‪Palio 1.6 @ 210km/h ZeroGravity Rox‬‏ - YouTube

We get so many after market kits for Jap cars and engines but literally none for Fiat or European. Even though 1.6 engines makes quite a mark when acceleration and speed even in stock form. Enjoy the sheer acceleration. What I like with palio 1.6 is compared to any other cars in the market the performance is quite acceptable even 10 years after production. I like the shift timing Bingo! the car zooms.
Note: I do not know whether this car is a stock or modified. Also I am not sure if someone posted this earlier.
Regards,
Vijay

0-100 kmph came in 8 seconds, can't be stock. Indian version had 0-100 figure of 12+ secs.
I came across a advt of a Palio GTX for 1.3 lakhs and was tempted to go for it :)

220kmph and 0-100kmph in around 6 secs? That would surely be (heavily) modified! Amazing acceleration indeed, specially the way it shoots up in third gear!

That said, whats the top speed of the stock 1.6 in India?

I have seen 175 kph true speed on the GPS in a Palio 1.6 GTX

Agree with all here, its definitely modified. Also, the stock version is not this free revving and this certainly has forced induction retro-fitted.

I also agree the performance is par for the course, in fact better compared to cars under 9 lakh rupees even now.

I have seen 180 kmph on the speedo in mine.

Yup, it is a gem of an engine. Pity it didn't find as many takers as it should have.

I can easily believe that. When I had my Palio 1.6 Sports a couple of years back, I routinely did 140 kmph on my trips from Pune - Dharwad/Hubli and I always got the feeling that the car had a lot more to offer.

Cheers,
Vikram

I dont know if anyone capable of modding Fiat engines in India. The guy may be modded with FFE, performance intake, Iridium, may be performance ignition wires :D . This footage has taken between chennai- trichy highway as mentioned in the 'U' tube description. I am not sure such good modders available in India esp for Palio engines.
@crazydriver: I have tried upto 120kmph in 3rd gear and its simply too good. The worst gear in GTX is 4th.

You should look for sajeeth's Palio thread then :)

One can play with 1st, 2nd and 3rd. 4th and 5th - well they are also gears :)

@speedsatya & comfortablynumb: Thanks guys!

Is this video actually from India? It looks like taken from the passenger seat, on the right side of the meter- as in from a left hand drive vehicle. Does Palio come in LHD configuration in any market?

yes - in some countries Turkey, Neitherland, SAmerican (Brazil), etc - it has a LHD configuration

If you observe all the comments, Uploader of this video has mentioned:
"no mod & all. just a leak on filter intake"

Wicked acceleration! The car in question definitely has more mods than just a "leak on the intake" (whatever that means!!!). You need over a 100 horses for that kind of sprinting ability.

Man, what a car the Palio 1.6 was, and I insist that the original was more special than the facelift. The only true enthusiast hatch to be launched in India till date.

Thanks for sharing this vid with us.

Palio 1.6 8v Turbo 0 a 220km/h - YouTube

Almost 300hp on a Palio. Must be one heck of a drive! That 1.6 was a scorcher as it is. This just takes it to a different level. Wonder how much he ended up spending. But the way the thing revs is crazy enough to justify the price. Is it just me or is there no turbo lag?

On such 0 - 100/200 pull you will barely notice any lag as most of the time you are in the power band.
