No offence to u, tsreekaranrao.

Generally speaking, these days ..anyone who wants more power from their sluggish engine, immediately come out with this word "TURBO" !!!
If people hear about the kind of complications, loss of time/money,etc... they'll run back with their stock engines.

Coming back to the topic,
The esteem's got the TUD5 engine.Nothing much u can do since its out-and-out 'mileage' engine. Don't expect performance from these kinds.

But anyways, try replacing the stock air filter with a conical type air filter from brands like Ractive/K&N. If u have warranty and don't wanna void it, then replace it with a stock replacement type filter.
Ractive conical costs 1000 bucks and the K&N costs around 5000 bucks.
Suit urself.

Well, No.
This is an older engine.Only CRDi,TDCi, CRDe,TDI,etc.. are fuel injected.
The 'i' stands for injection.
The TUD5 is an indirect injection which means its got a fuel pump an not a fuel injector.

There's no ECU in this engine.

It has an injector, thats why its called indirect injector. Infact all diesels, even trucks and buses have fuel injectors and fuel pumps. Tata indica/go have indirect injection and Tata DICOR has direct injection. Even the MPFI engines like zen alto etc., have fuel injectors. Its hard to find a non injector car being manufactured now, I think impossible!
