I think steering covers have more to do with looks than function. My A-star doesn't have steering cover, while I have rexin steering cover for my Alto. I find no difference in grip/comfort.

Started to drive a car with no leather steering, later when I got my Ford Fiesta, it had an excellent factory fitted leather steering, that's when I realised why it's necessary to have a good steering wheel cover. It feels so much better to hold a steering and better grip as well
