Thar to THOR

Hey Friends,

Just wanted to share a design project undertaken by us some time back. Its just something crazy, the design was an epiphany of sorts.

The project started off as just a normal bolt on 4x4 parts, such as new bull and roll bars, fog lamps et all but quickly my wild side took over and below is the end result.

The rear width was increased by 8 inches in total to improve leg room and comfort...we nicknamed the car THOR.

Uploading the finished product, will upload progress pics if you guys wish to see them.

I see there are no recent Customization or modification projects being shared in the thread, i wonder why that is, hence i thought of making a small contribution to it.

Wow, 8 inches. I can imagine the kind of monster it will be on the roads. In progress pics are perfectly fine. Please post them.

Re: Thar to THOR

The vehicles width is quite more than the frame, so its actually looking quite dis-proportionate to me

Re: Thar to THOR

A look at the front view hits you right between the eyes! Positively stunning! Especially the shot with both the doors open!
No offence meant but the bucket seats mounted bench style and the lack of a roll cage leaves me confused.

Re: Thar to THOR

Sorry to say, but as you might be looking for feedback on this thread, the Thar looks hideous! The front bumper will not last 15 minutes on a decent OTR. The rear bucket seats are awfully out of place, and the w-i-d-e fenders protrude outside of the tyres...giving it a "train-like" look. I'd pick a stock Thar with nice wheels & rubber 10 times out of 10 over this contraption.

No offense meant. Just voicing my opinion.

Re: Thar to THOR

That really looks weird. The rear seating looks awful,i think the stock thar with nice tyres and wheels would look any day better then what you have.No offence mate but the thar is a offroading jeep and this one looks more like poser..

Again no offence mate.

Re: Thar to THOR

Whats with that rear seat?
Keep a simple thin cushion bench.
Jeep and luxury are unlikely bed partners.

Re: Thar to THOR

The paint finish on the bonnet and the fenders looks really good ! But honestly the rest of the mods are horrendous!

-The front fender flares and the front bumpers look terrible!
-Looks like there's a tachometer in the jeep like the ones straight out of a drag car - thats just out of place ! And on top of that there already seems to be a tacho present in the dash
- the "race"/"recaro" seats just don't go very well with the jeep and so is the small steering wheel out of place - it might work with a raid xtreme gypsy - but not here !
- The tires and rims belong on one of those 2wd poser jeeps with rope tied to the front bumpers and showels stuck to the sides !
- I'm not very sure where the winch would end up being used - this jeep certainly isnt OTR material!
- And lastly the rear seats just don't belong in a jeep not in the back at least ! I am visualizing 4 people sitting at the back with 4 point harnesses , and i guess the sight doesn't look very nice !

I'm sorry , but this is one wacked out thar! Is that a genuine Crde thar 4x4 ? Well I'm shocked ! That's a colossal waste of time and effort and a very nice jeep .

Re: Thar to THOR

The jeep looks a bit over done, and IMHO you should get rid of those rear bucket seats.
Can please share where you sourced the led roof lamps and the clear head lamps ? Thank you

Re: Thar to THOR

Other than the looks department (which is well - a perfect fit for the weird & whacky thread) - I think you have managed to make an extremely unsafe vehicle. I would seriously suggest that you do not drive fast in this contraption. There is risk of serious injury incase of enthusiastic driving. The rear 4 are in real danger. Else put a huge high roof to protect those in the rear (that in turn will be determental to the handling)

All in all a project gone badly wrong & what is with all those DRL's totally out of Jeep character

Re: Thar to THOR

A proper dhabwali bling Jeep(no offence meant, only an honest opinion). But the paint work is stunning. Remove that atrocious bumper, rear seats, front flarings etc. and you have a stunner, at least, here.

I like the the way designers have given a lot of thought into comfort and safety of the rear passengers. Those seats will be a perfect place to soak in the warm sun, rain or even an occasional dust storm...

This was actually done to a new Thar?? I am speechless...
