Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

Rear Profile, and color combination is spot on. However, the front bumper is way too aggressive. I think this mod would look very good if the front bumper is toned down a bit; probably taking cues from range rover's front bumper.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

Though the entire work gives it a concept kinda look, overall the car still doesn't look great! If you look at bits & pieces, yes - they do look good. Put together, NO! The rear is as boring & bland as it can!

The MOST striking element to me - the rear LED lights. Simply look out of the world. I don't think there is much scope for anyone to make this look a whole better!

+1. completely. Those rear LED's are too good. But I think the designers got carried over a bit. It would have looked better if it was a bit more subtle. In this state, it's a bit of an overkill IMHO. But good effort though.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

My 2 cents.

Headlights and tail lights look good.

Are the vertical lamps in front bumper DRLs or fog lamps? May be its just me, but it looks very ugly to me when lit up. I prefer circular or horizontal patterns. Make it horizontal and make the mesh in the centre smaller vertically and horizontally, which might make the bumper cleaner. Probably the bumpers can end a little higher and scoop inside as a more gradual curve.

If the body panels cannot be altered, making just the bumpers too sporty doesn't go well with the character of the remaining car.

Side profile is too plain and a little over bulged. The doors badly need to loose some weight, at least a neat and sporty side beading to make the bulge less prominent. Top of the door frame looks ugly with the blackened pillars and prominent shut lines. Extending the blackening to the top frame of doors might make it look better.

The rear is too bland and the only way to make it a little exciting might be to add a neat spoiler that aligns with the roof, and may be move the spare wheel to the tailgate. And may be you can get rid of that LED bulbs in between XENON logo at the back - that doesn't look too good at the rear.

Perhaps the most decent mod job I've come across, considering most conversions based on budget sedans are either hideously painted or weirdly modded (spoilers and LEDs)

Unless the chassis has been beefed up, chopping the roof off a normal car is never a good modification!

Also the car looks really tired.

Doesn't look like the same Rapid. The pics posted by karan561 show a Rapid with side skirts whereas in the pics posted by you there are no sideskirts.

I believe this is the same bodykit which is there in the Skoda official accessories list. It looks cool but I found it a bit expensive.
Makes the Rapid look like a Laura

Cheers.

Edit- So sorry just saw the number plates in both the pics. I guess the side skirts were added later on after the pics were clicked.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

Skoda should learn something from these design cues. Plonk in some more horsepower on the engine and bring out the Rapid VRS! With styling like that and, I am sure it would find many takers.
