Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

Nice to see cars from Shillong, people doing it tastefully while not spending too much moolah on them.

I second Parm's compliment towards Shillong's modified cars . Neat stance and some great choice of wheels & tyres.

I know the cars aren't really modified but definitely worth a look.
Thanks for sharing. I still remember Shillongs's beautifully kept Willys and Mahindras and Gypsys in late 90's. I guess KL and (now) ML are places to visit if one want to see tastefully modified cars in India!

Is that an air filter instead of the right headlamp in the zen?

Have to say, it looks sweet! But isn't that dangerous, i.e. no right hand side headlight? Could it be modified into a headlight? Or am I missing something here..?

Yup that is a k&n filter and no it hasn't been modified as a headlight, the guy drives around with the fog lamps and one headlight in the night.

Buddy, if you know the owner / driver personally then please convey my below comment to him.

"Please modify the K&N filter and put in a working Bulb inside so as to serve as a functional headlight. You can keep the filter on the car to make it an eligible entrant to the weird & whacky thread. We all hate one-eyed 4 wheelers (think of those trucks and tipper with one eye). It is illegal. It is dangerous. A fog lamp is no replacement for a headlight. The next time you are driving around with your crappy fogs and you don't notice the gorge, please don't come back, we are least bothered."

And if he gives a damn about my advice, give him a double whammy kick in "where you know" so that whenever he sits in the driver seat, it reminds him of my advice.

And now, some actual use of available emoticons on the forum. These are for him.

Lol! Chill brother, I don't know the owner personally, he was a senior at high school and I was given the pic of his car through a common friend. Even then I shall try and make your advice reach the owner.

Oops, if he is your High School Senior, I would request you to kindly modify my comments in a softer way, in the interest of your own safety.
But my views for him are serious and he should understand the consequences, for him and fellow road users.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

The conical filter replacing the headlamp housing is a very common trick used by many to get the coldest air possible into the intake. However, while great on closed drags and track events, it is quite dangerous to use such a car as an everyday ride

umm, dont you think the tread pattern on the front trye suggests the tyre is not fitted correctly? if you compare the same tread with the rear tyre (which has the same tread, but fitted correctly) the tread in the front tyre will accumulate rain water rather than dispersing them to the side. please point out this (honest?) mistake to the owner if you know him, Ashkait.

Do you have any more pictures of the Green Beat with White racing stripes ?

I was contemplating putting up racing stripes on my Green Beat. But I am confused between Black and White colour stripes. This white stripe looks nice.
Any more picture would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

IMO the only car that is tastefully modified is the Beat. I would love to see the close pics of the alloys if possible.

I failed to notice that, I'll tell the owner about this i.e if he doesn't know it already.

And the beat in demand.
