I quite like the front look of that Duster. Simplicity at its best. 40% done! I wonder what's next.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

I'm not sure if this car has featured here before. I had saved pics of it long back ( 2012, maybe ) when I had found a 'for sale' ad of it.

"230E, shall we off-road.?" I know, it may appear profane to some members here but still, this vintage picks brains by clouting a peevish Love it or Hate it alternative.

i guess that might irk a few members here, but i honestly think thats pretty cool!! ive always had a thing for sedans with off road tyres, always wondered why its not such a big thing.. heres something similar featured on Jay Lenos Garage.

theres a rad looking "off road" mustang in the Thomas Crown Affair starring Pierce Brosnan

Cheers

What's interesting is, how the W123 shell manages to look even after it has been grossly violated, speaks highly about the timelessness of the design. Now, a very big question then would be, can a W123 manage to look gross?!! Kudo's W123 - Loads of Love!

This is very beautiful indeed!

However, I wonder how effective it is, considering it doesn't seem to have much suspension travel.

Any Idea what size wheels are on the blue OHC?

On a slightly unrelated note. Does any one know the CB dimension of the OHC 1.5 ?

Glad that these pictures made it on here!!
My team and i built this car in 15 days!!
I don't really like playing around with old cars either, but sometimes, it's better to save an old car and have some fun with it rather than to let it go to the graveyard.
This w123 was in a very sad shape when we got our hands on it.
We chopped the the top, strengthened it in all the places needed, extended the front doors by 7 inches, put a roll cage in, Several suspension mods and now she's ready for some real fun!!
She isn't built for off-road excursions or hill climbs.. It's made to have some fun in Goa with some extra ground clearance to make it up to a beach, etc. She's running the original 230e engine which pulls like a dream with all the lost weight.
W123's are solid cars built like tanks; thats where the idea came from to make it into a little rugged fun cruiser.
We could have put some 4x4 road tyres on, but i had these off a Land Cruiser in my parts bin along with some w211 wheels.

I'm really happy with the way it all came together!

For those of you who still think we ruined a w123, please go and save one on one of the various sites selling 100's of them all over india!
The pictures also made it to the 'Car Buzz' page on FB and she seems to have pulled a lot of attention internationally!

I, for one, admired the modifications done to this car. I work in Okhla Phase III in Delhi and I see many such cars parked like junk at the garages here. You really did a commendable job giving it a new life.
Moreover, transforming something like this in 15 days is quite an achievement.

@ Schakravarthy, those Gypsies are drool-worthy!

You'll find a lot of purists in this fraternity of auto enthusiasts, but that doesn't mean that creativity and good intentions go unnoticed!

I absolutely love old Mercs and while you won't find a car like this on my bucket list, I must congratulate for having rescued a W123 from the crusher. You have given it a new lease of life and whether everyone likes it or not, people are going to be talking about this 15 day makeover.

Live to drive indeed! Job done.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

That W123 is really Se%y and the execution looks phenomenal!

As someone mentioned earlier, Pierce Brosnan was driving an offroad spec Mustang in the "Thomas Crown Affair".

Anyone who's played UbiSoft "THE CREW" on PS or Xbox would know how awesome the offroad spec cars look!

Hats off Liv2Drv! Takes a good eye for detail and a wild imagination to execute (and succeed) with something like this... Haters gonna hate!

Gosh. Whoever felt the need to do this, needed to have a mental treatment first.

But as I have said earlier, there is still a warrior inside even that shell (I refuse to call it a contraption) that refuses to let go of its honor, despite the injustice that has been done to it due to owners ignorance.
