Hi Team,

I'm looking out to kit my ford Ikon 1.6 ZXI with a turbo, K&N & Free Flow exausts. K&N & FF are available but no idea where do i get turbo in chennai for Ikon.

Does anyone know of anyone who sells or set's up turbo for Ikon in chennai?

(or)

Anyone who has done it already on their Ikon's?

Cheers!

Call Krupesh Patel of Electra Performance on 9884049268. He has worked on turbos b4. Dunno if he has done ikons though!

PM v1p3r. I think he has a 1.2 to 1.6 l turbo set up for sale. The kit comes with everything - better fuel pump, FPR, BOV, Intercooler....in short, the works.
Or, if you looking for grade A quality work, your can take your car to bangy, there are pretty efficient people there from this forum who can do your work for you! And if you lucky, you might just get a TBHP discount!

Godspeed.

Alok.

: Bringing back old memories,eh racer??

@suraj:
I'd suggest U to keep the engine NA. U can perhaps play with some wet NOS.

Moreover, a turbo kit would cost upwards of 1.5 lakhs excluding labour.

TC in an Ikon, huh?

Suraj: I too, owning the same car as u do, was curious about the feasibility of turbo-charging it with the works, i.e. boost controller, BOV, etc.

Unfortunately, when I asked Anant (N1 Racing, Mumbai) about this, this is what he had to say:
"As for the turbo, a Garrett GT22 is good enough for a 1.6 [but] in my view due to the lack of space inside the engine bay (+header situated at the back) bending pipes would be possible but sharp bends may not result in smooth flows."

Looking inside the Ikon's engine bay, you really can see that you can't fit a turbo with all the required add-ons in there. However, there might be SOMEONE out there who has done so (not only on Ikons, but other cramped engine bay cars).

Honestly speaking, if I had the 1.5+ lakhs to blow on performance mods (hey I'm 1/3 of the way there with all my other crap! ), I would go in for the full treatment that includes everything BUT a turbo kit. Check out N1's Ikon project at http://www.*************.com/projectsikon.htm.

Meanwhile, those of you with Balenos and wads of cash might be interested in N1's Baleno Turbo project: http://www.*************.com/projectbaleno.htm.

Peace out! And Suraj, if you do find someone not as skeptical as me, lemme know!

Hey vez420: From what I heard, the Baleno mentioned in this post, on another thread, & on the installer's website has been completely reinstalled by Viper. The end client is quite pissed off as he's not happy with the job.

I believe that it had to be completely redone with a new turbo, plumbing, etc., as the turbo blew & never performed from day one.

I've got this news confirmed from reliable sources who I don't wish to name here.

WOW...remove the entire setup that n1 had done.well through the pics on n1's website looks like he has used plumbing material also......Dude i think had you known about VIPER earlier you would have been much much happier.but comparing the pics from before and after..gotta say VIPER has done a very neat job.

What about a Supercharger ?

Hi,

Same problem : Ikon 1.6 NXT - Same advice.

Here's something I have to ask this group :

Sicne the ROCAM's exhaust side is cramped and nothing can fit there, why not consider a Supercharger ? That might fit in the front of the engine bay where there is lots of space on the intake side..
