Art on a Mahindra Scorpio : The Holographic Love Machine

I wonder how come our Delhi based Team-BHPians missed to report about this, sort of Art on Mean Machine. Oops, its not a Mean Machine but they literally named it a Love Machine - The Holographic Love Machine.

I happened to bump to their Facebook page through a common friend and praised their art work, rather the outcome - a beautifully painted Scorpio! At first sight I believed that it must be belong to some one from Team-BHP, there is no doubt most of the Indian car freaks has to be among us! I really messaged them to confirm it and got the following reply. But its not all about cars, they have a message to convey. Take the art beyond the walls of Museums and Art Galleries.

A lot of media attention has already been covered by various online and print media houses, below is an excerpt from IE.

Source: IndianExpress
Quote:
There’s no theme or storyboard, just dozens of illustrations that seem to connect seamlessly. The iconography is sourced from the street and popular media, like graffiti, comics, packaging and animation. Even the popular game Angry Birds finds its way on to the car. “That’s because I am addicted to the game. Essentially, we wanted our work to relate to everyday life. It’s a public artwork, as we want everyone to see, feel and experience art. Often people feel intimidated when they enter an art gallery. With this, we’ve hit the road, brought down the walls,” said Manil.
Not elaborating any more, let me share the artist brother Manil&Rohit's THLM facebook fan page to enjoy more pics!

Here is the LivingCars coverage about the Machine and the Love it received from the people.

Note: I first wanted to post their pics on The Auto-image thread, but after getting their response thought to cover the whole story, only snaps wont do the justice to their art.

Re: The Holographic Love Machine

Love it!!
Unfortunately, just two scenarios where this would work.
One, if I had a spare car for when I feel in the mood to take a ride grabbing more eyeballs than an aventador carrying the space shuttle to launch.
WITH engines ignited!!
two, If i was in college.

Unfortunate that I am at neither of this two instances.
But I still love it!!

Isn't that illegal? The RC says the colour of the car, say, black, but you hardly see any black in the car.

Now that is a car you definitely won't lose in the parking lot. Nice artwork.

I remember the Logan that was painted for some artwork. Blue one! I see it almost on a daily basis.

@iSpoke: Good work there by the guys. The SUV looks fancy. Hope my wife does not get inspired by this, else she will start painting all vehicles around the house.

I would also question the legality of doing this. I think you need RTO permission or perhaps this is outright not allowed.

Its not a problem if you're painting over a car wrap.
Legalities aside, I think they've done a wonderful job !!

Re: Art on a Mahindra Scorpio : The Holographic Love Machine

What a coincidence. I see this Scorp in Gurgaon at around 3 PM yesterday, and find out that a thread was made on it the same day!

Truth be told, the car looks just cheesy in the flesh. I got a close look at it for around 10 mins as I tailed it. The paintwork, while definitely detailed, hasn't been finished too well. And a Scorp is probably the wrong medium for this kind of art .

Inspired by the BMW Art car, may be? Anyways - good way to way a Scorpio different from the zillion others on the road.

However - I don't think its legal in India to paint like this on a car! Afterall - imagine the paint we need to undergo to change the original colour (Forget painting stickers!) on the RC.

Re: Art on a Mahindra Scorpio : The Holographic Love Machine

Looks good in the picture.

But why is it called a love machine? Does all the art have some theme associated with it. In the picture i could see only a few red hearts fluttering around.

Edit: Oh so it is the Holographic Love. Now i get it.

Probably more of a reference to the psychedelia of the scheme, and the association of that with the late 60s/early 70s..

Oh, andyou edited between my reading your post and clicking quote, so null and void.

Note from the Team-BHP Support : Please avoid typing with excessive dots.........like................this. Thanks

This is pretty sick (the good kind). Honestly though its great if not amazing to know that people are out there who still surprise the whole indian car industry with works of art (literally) such as this holographic love machine

Sweet job!!

Love it, hate it, but you can not ignore it. Moreover, considering the NCR traffic it might just be useful. Can't recognise minor scratches, nicks or dings. They will all seem part of the art.
