hi guys,

i know it is a tough task,i have got blue indica xeta 1.4 GLS, wanted to make some changes which are bothering me ever since i bought the car.

also wanted to change stearing wheel of the car as it is also looking up to you. I would prefer more sportier one.

i was thinking of changing the wheels of the car as they are too small for the size of the car. looking for height of the wheels rather than width as it would not effect the milage as much as the wider tyres will. 14" or bigger need to know and alloys are something always intrigued me.

and is it possible to add more torque to the car without changing the car much and spending much.

and finally is it a good idea to get the engine lock central locking or just the doors.i didnt oot for it earlier because all the fire incidents in delhi when i was buying the car.

what do think about all that and let me know what do you think.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

take care,

God bless,

Manu Sharma

was bored and was thinking. Has anyone tried swapping the head/engine of the 1.4 Xeta with the DOHC one from the indigo XL Petrol?

A petrol xeta should be available dirt cheap second hand, and 100 bhp hatch at that price range!

If I'd the money and the expertise, I'd have definitely given it a try. Instead Tata should've launched their race-spec 115bhp Indica. Hope you knew about it.

But the petrol Indica in stock avatar is a sleeper anyway.

Nope, not that one. That was based on the old Indica. I am talking about the Xeta made on similar lines. But it was production ready.

Search for 'Tata prepares race/rally Indica'. This was meant to be sold as a limited edition but alas....

Slightly off-topic:

A few days ago, I spotted what looked like the Tata Indica Sport (yellow paint, bodykit, 15inch wheels, Indicab taillamps, 85 bhp Indigo engine) displayed in auto expo 2002 running on the road! It had a 2003 regn. similar to my car. I guess Tata sold one of their display pieces to someone, since I believe it was the same Indica sport that used to be kept as a display in a corporate building at Worli, Mumbai. No pics and I am not 100% sure though.

Better indica sold in Turkey than India ?

Indica does sell with 85bhp engine in South Africa and Turkey for sure.

Check out the specs

.::TATA TÜRKİYE::.

TATA South Africa - Cars

in the Turkey version I can see a lot of differences:
  • ABS + EBD as standard
  • 175/65 R14 tyres
  • Dimensions: 4130 x 1625 x 1575
  • Wheelbase: 2450
Indica's sold here have a wheel base 2400 mm only with the following dimenstions 3690 x 1665 x 1485

It looks altogether a different car.

bonnetsup, i think a head swap would be a more feasible approach.

Turboing might be hard since nobody makes the controllers/ECU's etc

it can be done, but it would be more feasible to just sell the indica and get an indica turbo instead.

Yahoo! Groups

here's a list of things you'll need for the conversion

Indica Turbo has been phased out in India. The only Indica variants on sale in India are DLE and DLS with the following engine specs:

Maximum Output 53.5 PS @ 5500 rpm
Maximum Torque 8.5 Kgm @ 2500 rpm
No. of Cyllnders 4 inline
Plston Displacement 1396 cc
Type 475 IDI with Microprocessor based Engine Management System (ECU)

I had Indica Dicor on my mind but it disappeared without notice .
