I know I am reviving a two-and-half year old thread, but I really need your help here.

I have a Maruti 800 (1997 DX) with factory fitted A/C and the A/C hardly works (no surprises there).

I need an economical option as I am planning to buy a better car by end of year or early next year and 10k-15k budget is a definite no-no. At the same time, the air-conditioning should be reasonably good (I live in Hyderabad and it is not one of the better summers here).

I'm sorry if I sound like I'm asking for too much, but is there an after market install that can really help??

Members in Hyderabad, would really appreciate if you know of someone who does this well.

Rockster,

1. Visit an after-market aircon specialist and tell him you are looking at a cheap solution. Probably, a service, gas recharge etc. can help.

2. Install a set of really high quality sun film in your car. Will greatly help in keeping the heat at bay.

That said, don't expect a chilling air-con from the M800 in our summers. But hey the monsoons are only 2 months away.

GTO, Is is true that the AC blower on esteem carb is weak? I recently changed my AC compressor, got the AC system checked. My AC chills very well, but the blower is not strong enough.

Do I require a blower motor overhaul? I don't want to get fried up in my car after moving to Chennai

Hi everyone. I have a similar problem on my Carb type '96 esteem. I am at the edge of replacing the car for the major short comings of A.C. Rather than selling off esteem, i wish to keep it by upgrading the whole AC system which normally never stays in working condition every 5-6months. Anyone out there who has any idea/advice about upgrading/modifying the AC system in Esteem car? Thanks in advance.
