Re: About Vinyl Wraps

I did wrapping on my duster's dull interiors with 3M carbon fiber wraps. The wraps are expensive.Cost me 3600 Rs for 8 feet .

I like to do things like these,so went " Do It Yourself " way.

Please see the results.

Am also attaching picture of tools I used.

Thanks.

I removed only the piano black enclosure rim ,which is easy to remove. One can easily pull it out by some pressure applied to the bottom end of panel.

Re: About Vinyl Wraps

Ok, so i'm looking for someone to do an interior carbon fiber wrap of a polo. Just called up Wrap it up, Andheri, he's shut shop. Spoke to 3M, they only do exterior wrap.

I know I can buy the wrap from 3M and do it myself, but i'd be much more comfortable in the hands of a professional. Any leads on where I can get a quality job done in Mumbai?

Any close-up or work-in-progress pictures? Also from where did you source the vinyl and please share the cost details?

I dont have WIP pictures since I was doing the work alone I shall take some close up pictures in the morning and post it here.

I got the vinyl from a shop in my road and I think I roughly paid somewhere around Rs. 30-35 per sft. I brought a 4ft*3ft piece of vinyl and paid somewhere close to 400 including a small sticker cutting I wanted for my keyboard.

The edges are not cut but wrapped into the panel or pushed in in case of the side panel. This will avoid peeling and also any scratches onto the panel since the last thing I wanted to do was to endanger the neatly maintained paint. Sprayed quick detailer before installation in order to ensure that when the wrap is removed, there wont be any glue left on the paint.

Thanks Sommos,
I did some trials with my gadgets and office items first.

After some trials you will get the concept, its easy.

All you have to do is ,first cut out the desired size ,roughly. Then after centering over the desired area, work from one end or corner.

Make sure no dust particles gets in to the area.

A gentle sweep over the vinyl with hot air gun ,will make the film, set in to the surface,so that you can trim the edges and cut out unwanted parts easily.

By few trials, you will get it.

Vinyls from 3M are super fun and easy to work with,as they have air channels to dispense trapped in air bubble.

Thanks Anil.

Actually my car has vinyl wraps on the door area. In one spot the wrap has cracked, maybe there was an air bubble or something else and the white paint is visible. I fear that the wrap may start to peel off from there after some time. I was thinking of doing it DIY but cannot muster enough courage to go forward.

I would be grateful if you can kindly educate me a little bit more about how to proceed.

can you please upload a picture of the same?

First get some vinyl of the same kind.Patching over the existing cracked area might be easy.
