Re: About Vinyl Wraps

I wanna get carbon fiber wrap for my XUV 500 mirrors. Since my car is silver, i feel the carbon fiber look on the ORVMs should be a good offset. Has anyone done it so far, and if yes can you please share pics.

Also any pointers on where I can get this done in Delhi/Gurgaon. I thought of ordering 3M Vinyl wrap online and doing it myself but my past DIY experiments dont give me too much confidence in my craftsmanship!!

Re: About Vinyl Wraps

Am considering Vinyl sticker for my white KWID just for the roof. Are there any suggestions? I was told that 3M may be pretty expensive and can consider some local vendors. Any idea if going to a local vendor is a good idea? Will there be a huge cost difference between the 2? I really do not want to compromise on the quality of the work by going to cheaper versions.

You can try Dhana Stickers at Maduravoyal. His works are too good and VFM.

Guys, Planning to get only the roof and mirrors wrapped in gloss black vinyl. Any idea of a good shop somewhere between Borivli and Bhayander in Mumbai?

Re: About Vinyl Wraps

Got the weather strip and door bottom cladding of plush XUV installed on my car today after which had been to 3M to get the alignment done and while the alignment job is being done, started to browse through 3M's vinyl wrap samples as I was long contemplating about getting the stripes done on my steed. Finally, went ahead and got it done on the bonnet, roof, boot door, ORVM's and side body cladding. I opted for Satin Canyon Copper as it looked a bit subtle. Did not opt for Red or Silver stripes as they are pretty common. This particular shade looks good in sun light and gives out a darker look in artificial light.

DIY : Vinyl wrapping interiors of Swift Dzire Vdi and light mods

This weekend I decided to do a little make over of my Swift Dzire's interior. Cost incurred for vinyl wrapping all the parts shown in pictures was less than 100 INR.

List of material needed:

1. Vinyl Wrap.

I bought it From Kashmiri Gate car accessories market, Delhi.

Tip: Don't buy it from the shops in main street, buy it from the shops which are located a little inside the market. The shops located in main street were selling it for Rs 150/metre while I got it at Rs 60/metre. I had bought 3 metres but more than half is still left over.

2. A hair dryer or better if you can source a heat gun.

About Vinyl Wraps-2.jpg

3. A cutter

About Vinyl Wraps-3.jpg

This is a little big in size, a smaller one will be fine or even a normal shaving blade can do the job.

The process is quite simple, use a scale and take measurements of the area to be covered by vinyl wrap and taking around half inch extra on all four sides cut out the vinyl sheet and stick it on the dashboard. Use heat from hairdryer or heat gun to take out wrinkles from the vinyl sheet or to mould the sheet around curves.

Attaching a few before/after pics.

Pic Credits : For comparison sake all the before pictures have been taken from a fellow tbhpian's ( @dmehta) thread as I forgot to take pictures before wrapping. Rest all pictures are my own.

Apart from these I installed LEDs in the footwell area, not writting much on that as @a4anurag has already written a detailed post on that. He had used white color LEDs but I installed RGB remote controlled ones. Apart from this I also installed a LED strip to lit up the glove box( A very much needed mod for all of us who don't get factory fitted light there).

and here is the final picture:

Ah! A TBhpian near my neck of the woods! Looks nice with the wooden vinyl finish but do consider the wrapping on the steering wheel logo. It looks a bit bubbly.

Did you find Carbon fibre wrap at that shop? I can made do with some wrapping vinyl too.

We can have meets in Rohini or thereabouts if more members show up!

No it isn't.
Any modifications which aren't mentioned by car's RC are illegal. E.g. your car's RC mention the car's color as silver but you wrap it in black then it's illegal.

You can DIY. It will be a lot cheaper, sheet comes at around 60 Rs/metre.
