DC Design's Duster Customization : An additional 3.49 Lakhs+

DC Design has put a Duster under the knife to come out with this custom adaption of the SUV. Posted as 'coming soon' on their Facebook page, the modified Duster looks surprisingly subtle for a DC Design (usually, too loud & garish). DC has released only a picture of the front; the highlight is the strip of LED lights that replace the headlamps and a classy front grill. The bumper sees rather chunky double barrel fog lights and (excessive) chrome surrounds. The front air dam appears to be unchanged.

We're not sure how this funky face will match the Duster's otherwise older, conventional side / rear profiles. Let's wait and watch.

The bonnet features a 'power bulge' and the paint is in matte finish. DC Design usually provides high quality interiors and the modded Duster should be no different.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

I really like the interiors, any one would like it ?! But, this is just the design right? Physically, what would be the rough cost of this job, any guesses ?

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

The only reason I like this DC product is coz the overall dynamics of the stock car remains more or less the same post modification

DC's Duster customisation starts from Rs 3.49 Lakh

DC Design has put out more pictures of its Duster modification on Facebook. The upgrade package begins at Rs 3.49 Lakh and could end up costing a substantial amount more, once all options are chosen. The donor vehicle will of course have to be provided by the customer.

The dull front of the Duster has been streamlined by DC into a cleaner, better integrated design. The wide tyres shod on multi-spoke alloys complete the hunkered down look of the SUV. The rear has been left untouched by DC, save for the DC logo on the boot handle and mild additions to the tail lamps. The overall effect achieved by DC is certainly an improvement over the original Duster design.

The interiors have been radically upgraded from the Duster's otherwise basic inside. It now features perforated leather seats, lashings of wood veneer and chrome on interior panels, along with LCD/LED displays and LED lamps. While the interiors appear to be immaculately finished, the driver's armrest has a rather odd looking contraption that seems to house a rear cooling vent with cupholder / storage area.

As much as we like the exterior mods, the interior looks overdone...we'll even go to the extent of calling it gawdy.

These are nice! They look different considering DC's designs that we have witnessed so far (more pictures in W&W mods threads ). Any idea how much it would lighten one's pockets by to get it done?

That said, i love the duster's road presence, not very imposing but at the same time, makes sure it gets noticed and i quite like the rear myself.

Where are the headlights? The USP of the Duster in its original form are the huge lamps. In the DC version i can only see a line of LEDs similar to DRLs.

Sacrificing function in the name of style?

I think the vision for night time driving is provided by the 3 lights on the fog lamp area (front bumper). They are powerful projectors. I'm not sure though.
I still prefer the normal Duster, it has those beautifully designed lamps. This one feels like sleeping!
BTW Don't the interiors look too much limo-like? Duster is an SUV.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

I don't like modifying cars to this extent . Duster and any other ride sure looks best in its original form. This doesn't appeal to me.

Re: PICS : Tastefully Modified Cars in India

If DC sells the front grill and bumper as an accessory, He can make quite a killing.
However I prefer NORHOG design better and just hope that some 3rd party manufacturer copies it from here and provide us with some nice front mods for DUSTER.
As for rear, a simple matt or CF sheet work over the CHROME strip will do wonders.

Design Crit!

Speaking about the exterior design, it's by far the most subtle work from the fabled stable, however, as pointed out by other members, the chrome bezel just ruins whatever the design had going for it! I wont go anywhere near the interiors cause it's like looking at a vehicle that had 2 distinctively different design briefs for the interior/exterior!

The lines on the grille aren't original and hark back to the 2009 Dacia Duster Concept albeit watered down!

Here's my take on a design direction that could've worked well! Good design is knowing when to stop!

Re: DC Design's Duster Customization : An additional 3.49 Lakhs+

Well is the entire package as shown in the pics come for Rs. 3.49 lakhs or will one have to pay more to get the entire modifications done. Moreover there is no list of actual modifications feature wise either on facebook or on the website of DC. In fact if DC offers modifications feature wise then more customers will go for the modifications rather than going in for the entire package.
