Hi Sharu

We had upgraded to Stanley leather seats in our Baleno. We had used it for close to 5 years and now we have upgraded to Stanley even in our skoda rider. I feel these are expensive to the ones you have quoted but believe me these are worth going for. It costed us somewhere close to Rs. 20000/- for Baleno seats only and this was in year 2001. It comes with 3 years warranty but it works pretty well. I recommend you can go in for stanley anytime....

Regards
Sumit

Could someone throw some light on "Art" leather seats?
What would be the approximate cost to have these type leather seats fitted on an Indica and what would be the best place to have it done?
I wish to have leather seats fitted and would welcome comments from experts in regard to cost, recommendations, etc.
I reside in Mumbai.

Thanks!!

I paid 18,000 (Stanley Classic, only seats, Bhavi Motors-S'Cruz) for my Zen two years back. Excellent feel, superb fit... strongly recommended (don't know much about Ovion).

Got Stanley Classic leather fitted also for my Baleno (seats, door trims, arm rest) from Stanley Boutique for 28,000...

Art leather seats wont cost you much, depending on barand and quality, for your car they should cost between 2.5k - 4k....Fitting is not really an issue as these are usually seat covers as sompared to re - upholstering the seat as in the case of real leather.

..And how much am I looking at cost-wise if I were to have the seat re-upholstered to real leather for the same car?
In any event, is it advisable to have this done from the dealer or outside?

As MsPrabhakar mentioned earlier., he paid 18000 to have his Zen done up

you should get it done from the dealer (i.e Stanley , Ovion or whichever brand you wish to use)

Seats took a day. Door trims was a problem. Baleno and Honda Accord (they say) have the original material riveted to the frame, hence wanted help of Vitesse to remove and refix. However, Vitesse refused saying it will spoil the entire door. Hence a neat pasting job (over the existing) was done for the door trims only, which took another day. Overall, 2 days.

So, to have leather seat covers, I would be looking at 2.5K-4K, but to have the seats re-upholstered to leather, it would cost me 18K.
Correct?
Again, to be done at car dealer (during the car buying process) or outside?

Is it better to do leather upholstery than spend so much of money to buy seat covers since most of the seat covers will not last for more than 5 years ?

Well, from what I understand, it would cost more to upholster the seats to leather, than to have leather seat covers.
But I would like comments and suggestions from experts in this regard.
