Found some pretty good cams online (though not on India portals).

Supposedly New Toyota Innova Rear View Cam.


Supposedly Skoda Octy's cams...look real promising.








Thinking now of getting one of these cams as found the Octy's one with Carax.

Did some rethinking and IRVM seems a bad choice due to:
1. The Cam view appears in center of the IRVM which hides the direct rear view from the IRVM
2. (Knew this already BUT) Original IRVM's Night Vision facility is seriously to be considered and highly useful to loose it
3. Possible rattles?
4. Possible fall-off with Original IRVM because Etios's IRVM is really dodgy and is prone to falling off with bumps, heavy road vibrations
5. LCD screen mostly better in all these respects and can be placed near the RORVM dash so it is easy for driver to glance at it alongwith the RORVM.

So now shifting from IRVM+Cam+Sensors to LCD+Cam+Sensors with one of the above cams. A couple of good ones found are from Xenos (bit costly total package), RD, SmartEye. Effectively all are Chinese make but decent quality overall and quite comparable to each other. For the above cams, will need to make rectangular hole near number plate lights so it will fit from inside and direct downward and further backwards unlike the bumper fitted ones which only point backwards leaving a certain distance to be judged still.

Just a quick update. Got the Reverse Parking System installed in our Etios today. The install was done at Poona Motors, MG Rd and Vinit Chauhan was extremely helpful in the whole process. Settled for SteelMate PTSV404 (steel-mate) having LCD+Cam+Sensors. Got matching color sensors to our Vermillion Red. Also got the latest Toyota Innova Rear Micro Tab Cam fitted which also comes with a camera supporting light. I will upload the whole process and effects in another thread soon. But anybody looking for a system, I would suggest you go for this, just one word so far, Awesome. The LCD also has features of Clock/Calendar, Brightness/Contrast/Color, Voice assistance, Distance line settings depending upon the space/camera installed. Overall, I am pretty happy with it. Superb. Vinit is very well connected with TBHP. Total cost Rs 9500/- and didn't force for more discount from the one he readily gave from Rs 10500/-.

How do the two co-ordinate on the screen would be interesting to see, please post pictures of the bumper too, want to see if it looks crowded by any chance

Hi all,

I'm getting my new Honda Jazz next week (although my expectations had been set to July at best)! Now, since I live in one of Bangalore's multi-pillared-basement-parking apartments, I feel the need for a reverse parking sensor. I have a few questions regarding that:
1. For reversing with multiple pillars, is it better to go for sensors or camera, or a combination of both?
2. Would it void the warranty on the car in any way if I do not fit the ones offered by the dealer? (They are not offering body colored, and I want my Rallye Red Jazz to remain completely red! )
3. Are there options in the market that combine navigation and rear parking assistance on a single screen without being too convoluted (fancy graphics that add nothing of value, etc!)?
4. Any ballpark figures for the cost of basic sensors, wide-eyes lens camera setup and any device that fits criteria (3), if at all? This will help me decide what exactly can I afford to go for (or, want to go for)!

If you get a good night vision - wide angle lens camera, you can do away with the sensors. Always depend on the OVRMs for the pillars. Also, you will get used to the location of your parking lot pillars in a few days. Personally I do not like the sensors that are mounted on the bumpers even if they are body coloured. IMO, it spoils the original look of the bumpers. Also for camera, try for the one that gets hidden under the number plate lights.

I am looking for my Honda Jazz x. Honda dealer quotes price for a different model named Vision for 12600/- (including painting the sensors)

I do not like the idea of having the screen as a clip on to the OEM OVRM. Are there any other options?

For sensors, this is the best and most non invasive way that I've ever come across! - No Holes Parking Sensor | Parking Dynamics Reverse Sensor

As for camera, personally I would prefer a wireless camera cause I wouldn't want non OEM wiring running from the outside of the car to the interior! (Power to the cam can be routed via reverse lights)

The dealers have quoted 13.5K - a brand called TORQ. Can't find any clue about it online... They couldn't show me a car which had it installed - even after setting up a meeting. I got the 'O I though you meant the audio feedback one' routine.

So questions,

• Any info on this brand or model (they said there is only one model.. so no model name) ? Does anyone have it on their car ?
• Any good places around Thane where I can find out aftermarket cost.. so that I can try to bargain if I'm being taken for a ride. (Strong suspicion.. Sunfilm garware quoted at 7.5k)

I'd love to have it fitted from the dealer itself to avoid the 'warranty is void' argument.

Optra/Chevrolet and similar models. I was specifically looking for a replacement type above the number plate.


For X5 (I dont own one). I just wanted to use it in the front


Can someone from bangalore (preferably north) help me test the same on priority please? i'll be grateful. None of the shops on JC road demo the dvd receivers with screens. Please pm me if anyone is willing to help.

They work on my monitor but the scaled up image and the smps used to test causes noise in the image.

I have seen some Sumos and Endeavors with mirrors fitted on their back doors. Do these serve to indicate obstacle while reversing?

If so they would seem like a low tech solution to reverse sensors or cameras. Am I missing something here?

These are indeed the right things to judge any obstacles, trenches, vehicles at the rear. The only thing is they are available in limited fitments possibilities. Like there are vacuum dicky mirrors which serve very good purpose but which tend to fall off in long term due to weather effects on the suction pads they have. The ones on Endy, CR-V are available as OEM accessories made for them and they have proper bolting to body hinges/parts mechanism which is not available for many other cars. Some people do the bolting to body but then that causes damage to the body. I used to have one suction dicky mirror on my Innova and it used to be great boon judging even tight corners until it started falling off over the years and I got it off completely.

If these are available as permanent fixture accessories to desired cars, they are the best way to judge the rear as they offer crystal clear view, better than camera. But the advantage camera offer is they show nearly exact distance from problem coming up at rear obstacles without having to look behind. But the fitment of camera also matters which governs how much near and critical vision it can give. You can refer to my reverse parking system thread for this. The link is provided in posts above.

However, having said that, you still need to look behind to get clear idea of sides etc at numerous occasions.

Today i got installed Autocop Reverse parking sensor in my SX4, but the RVM shakes like crazy even on the plain roads, suffering from the same concern which you have mentioned.

Kindly let me know if you could kind the solutions for this.

Though I have a piece of foam kept with me for this purpose - the workaround would be to insert this piece of foam between reverse sensor mirror and actual rear view mirror - the foam would absorb these vibrations.
i'll let you know as soon as I work on this - maybe with a few snaps
