Apologies for the rather late update on this thread guys! I got married in between and was a bit busy with new life challenges
We've completed painting the car, sorted out all electrical issues - we had a few grounding problems and the steering mounted switch cluster had to be replaced. We've added power steering, got it tested and it has now done close to 10k kilometres! Car has worked beautifully, never had a breakdown/issue since we last worked on it. The car has become the daily workhorse at our home, using it haul groceries to TV stands to fertilizers(in the dicky of course)! Only thing left to do is the addition of AC, this is primarily due to our laziness midway through the project, we had to get it on the road quick! During the fitment of dashboard, we've managed to damage the AC cooling coil and the tubing that goes out through the firewall. Since it was damaged, we didn't bother to put in any of the parts required to run the AC lines - HUGE mistake. We'll be tackling it in near future, attaching a few latest pictures of the car taken for a different cause after last day's heavy rains here in Trivandrum, these pictures were never meant to be shared here, but couldn't resist
Below are the observations so far after 10k KMs:
1. No alignment issues, we thought we might encounter those
2. Mileage is close to 14 consistently
3. Starts like a new car
4. We thought clutch was going to give up soon, but it became better over time and no issues now
5. Non power windows are hard to operate
We've totally forgotten the fact that we rebuilt this thing from the ground up, it has managed well to blend in with the other guys at home. Next on the list are the AC and getting new tyres.
Will post more pictures including interior ones later this week, once again thank you TeamBHP for the support! |
