However you have to make sure if it actually draws in "cold air"

Stock replacement will be a safer bet.
Also retaining the air box means you will not loose "Helmholtz resonance"

How many Kms on the odo ?
Did you do a compression test ?
From what I've read honda engines are pretty well built.

I've seen Megazoid's Vtec which has 1.2L (IIRC) on the odo. That thing still takes off..

Fuel/air filter could be clogged, misfiring spark plugs, the leads check them all and give it a good service the problem should sort out. Also read somewhere air mass, oxygen sensors dont work properly after an extended period of inactivity,is this true?
This might also cause that sluggish feeling in your car.

Oh and those alloys look smashing!

I got a Type I OHC 1.3 too.
Check out my garage

My 2 cents:
Cosmetic:
1> Paint it white
2> Get Black Alloys
3> Remove the skirting [could break / get damaged on car breakers]

Performance:
1> Air filter [I got a Piper Cross Foam Filter] + plumbing
2> Free Flow Exhaust
3> I got Pedders Suspension [can't comment on Koni, Eibach, et al. Have no knowledge on them.]

Go for 15 inchers.
195/50R15 or 205/50R15

Guys please suggest some nice garage where i can get the denting and painting done

Problems facing ---

  1. As the car was kept idle for almost a year now
(driven only a few times in past 1 year)
when i took it out for a drive yesterday it was jerking (may be misfiring dont know) = = = what could be the problem ? ?

  2. Suspension i need the car to be hightened a bit so that it wont get draged on every single speed breaker.
Should i modify the stock suspension or use pedders or koni for the same

  3. A bit of water leakage i guess from the front wind shield (tat can be taken care of during the paintwork)

Guys would really appreciate your suggestions here.

Thanks

Hi ~Honda~
This thread particularly interests me! I got a 1.3 Exi (2002) myself and the story is more or less the same as yours! My OHC was all-stock till about June, that's when I moved back home (kolkata) after graduating, only to find the OHC in disuse.

When I first started the car faced the same issues that you have mentioned.
The engine was jerking, the pick-up was slow, the car felt "rusty".

That weekend, we had a Kolkata Team-BHP meet, where we all took our cars on a road trip to panaghar about 180kms from Cal. My OHC was under-performing and I was pretty much disappointed. =( It's was maxing out @ about 135kmph~!! Shocker!
The wheel alignment was way out and there was tremendous wobbling!

Under these circumstances, Senior BHP-ians suggested that I should "Redline" the car on every gear. This theoretically would help "unclog" the engine and also inform the ECU that more performance was expected out of it! So I did this for about 3-4kms and SUDDENLY when I was on 4th cruzing @ about 120kmph, I felt the Engine "OPEN-UP" by the time red-lined on 4th and shifted to 5th, I had touched 156-157kmph!!!
I was amazed!

The next day, I went to my mech with BHP-ians, predator-wheelz and NOS Power and got my car serviced.

The work done on my car:
1) Oil Filter - Replaced
2) Oil Pump - Cleaning
3) Air Filter - Cleaning
4) Spark Pugs - Replaced(Stock)
5) Engine Oil - Change (Magnatec)
6) Wipers - Replaced (Syndicate)

After the basic servicing which cost me about 1.6k, I felt a definite improvement in my cars performance! Later I replace my stock rims/tires with 14" Plati Rims and Yokohama ES-100 185/60R14!
Now my OHC touches 160kmph easily and the engine is running smoothly!
Hope my 2 cents help!
SGC!

Ideally you are trying to achieve 2 different things.

1) A ECU reset - This can be done by disconnecting the battery for 10-15 mins that is a start.

Then

2) An "Italian Tune Up" - Italian tuneup - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

i dont think it has somethiing to do with ECU

i think a normal service will give a desired result, if the problem still persists maybe i can try other stuffs.

most of the guys suggested a white paint-job
i like the white color but i think it doesn't much give a nice feel to the car

what other color scheme can i opt for
what about candy red or a Sunset pearl orange

Who do you think controls the engine parameters ?
Its not rocket science, but if you don't want to give it a go, don't.
Any hey don't expect miracles.

@sg Yes i remember those "redline" runs very well.Nice to see that the car is running well now,did you a wheel allignment done or something to correct the wobble? And hot alloys.

@~honda~ Do you remember GTO's Vtec? That brownish coppery colour? How about that?

Get that done first. Your engine should feel much more responsive after a good service.

Nothing too blingy. White with Vtec spoiler, 16" rims 195/205 low profile rubber and a subtle body kit.
As for the exterior, keep it simple. Getting rid of that extra body kit will make your car lighter/faster. 16" rims would look great, but you'l have to be a bit careful when driving on bad roads.

Maybe black or grey skirts, a mock rear diffuser and the exhaust outlet embedded in the rear bumper would give it a very elegant yet sporty look.
