Yes. they do get shattered primarily because plastic is plastic is plastic.

The point I was trying to make is that they are strong enough not to get damaged by flying stones and road debris, or hot lamps. However, I feel that the heat due to tints may lead to faster discoloring/yellowing - The kind we see on 3-4 year old non-clear type plastic lenses (e.g. the Type I OHC)

fieroid,
I found this site a month back while browsing for 15'' alloys.

Checkout these 2 snaps :

I love the way this guy (Phil) has smoked his VTEC's headlamps and rear lights. But I donot know the method.

2 more snaps from the same site - but another thread.

PS - The smoked headlamps are standard on sports edition on Cedia.

Actually, it's called a vikram. Autorickshaws are different. I learnt the hard way. :(

Hey,

Good idea, While you are it you can damage your bumpers also then you have money for a new bumper as well.

Manveet: so a kiss wth a Vikram prompted you to go on a frenzied attack with an iron rod on of your baby's eyes for insurance purposes.

Viper: If the bumper is of fibre or plastic then the insurance will not pay. I also learnt it the hard way when a RTV rammed into the butt of my stationery Esteem.

and while you are at it, break the windshield too, the bumpers & the grill too. you are downright crazy man. no insurance guy is going to believe that you broke both your headlamps when a n auto hit you. how broad was that auto ?

Sorry for digressing...let us come back to the blackened face..I've seen the tails of Opel Astra Club model that appear blackened including the reverseing lights. I dunno if the lux is reduced.

Similarly I've seen the headlamps of the new BMWs that appear darkened during the day. But when switched on in the night the road is so brightly illuminated, it is amazing. If anyone could such a job here, then I would be interested.
