Hi,

Will be doing a car up in a day or two will post pics then. For everybodys info it is a DIY kit, reversible and is applied from the outside. There is no opening of the light assembly and it is a liquid which needs to dry(not masking tape or film).

smoked headlights should only be for a show car. in the age of people wanting HID/XENONS and higher wattage bulbs it seems to be a waste. however smoking of your indicator/ tail lights is an easy job. Tail light tint spray is available from many manafacturers[ savage/foliatec etc]. clean your surface . apply coats in an even manner. number of coats depend on your taste. have both my palio and skoda smoked. sorry not sure how to add pics to the reply for you to judge for yourself how awesome they look.

Review: Headlights Color Coating - Now Done

Hi,

Well, I finally found time to apply the product sent by Viper.

Pre-application Impression.

The Box pack - front cover

Well, I was initially let-down cause what I was expecting was a smoking kit that I could use on the tail-lights.

However, once I got a look at this product I realised that this would probably find better application on the headlights (compared to the spray on tail-lights) as this was primarily a "light color coat" which would simply add a color tint thereby not seriously hampering the visibility.

Contents of the Box.

Lots of stuff that came in the box. Apart from the 4 bottles, also note the vinyl gloves, wiping cloth, masking tape etc.

The instructions and Warnings:

Well, I felt bad after reading this primarily on 2 counts
  • "Do not use this product except on plastic lens" : This now meant that the product wouldn't work on Hellspawn's Zen - as per him the Zen has a Glass HL (we'd decided to split the cost). However, he was nice enough to agree to use it on his Sienna.
  • "The coating can be thin after 3~6 months according to driving condition and the influence of environment." - Whoa !! I just spent money on this and this is what it says. Man !!

Note: this post ONLY captures my pre-application first impression. I applied the color yesterday evening. It has darkened a "bit more" by today morning. I want to wait 24 hrs (because thats how long its supposed to be left alone after applying - as per box) before I post a review on the final outcome along with the pictures.

For those curious (aza, hellspawn, harsh87 etc) - let me suffice by saying that's its a
  • decent (6/10) product for the HL's
  • not good at all for TL's
  • priced too high for either
Regards,
Manveet

Hi Manveet,

Thanks for the feedback. I had just ordered 12 units of each colour after speaking to my supplier and had no idea whatsoever of the "do not apply on glass warning which was not mentioned on the outer box"

Had given it to another customer as well who has not come back with any complaints. In fact after speaking with you I called him and he was satisfied with the product. Maybe expectations were not met as you wanted a dark finish and this was basically a light tinting. Will wait for your final review as well as feedback from others before ordering more qty. If I get more complaints may just return the lot to my supplier.

hellos

i got the smoke lens spray from Driven today. The can was delivered late in the evening so couldn't apply it today.

I got to preview how the tl's will look thanks to harsh. actually it turned out to be a mini me(a)t at Driven's place.

After seeing the santro's tl, i'm thinking of applying it on tl's hl's side indicators and the fog lamps as well(if the can will last in this order of priority)

thanks for your time Manik Sir. and it was great meeting all the others too.

cheers
