@ AGSPINS:- We use to import these paints before and unfortunately I don't have pictures for it . Let me see, if we have any piece left in our AUH warehouse. It is a premium quality product and the results are appreciable.

Regards

Re: How are headlights and taillights blackened?

Is it possible to get my old Civic headlamps smoked just like the one in the new Civic? Will it require ripping off the glass sealing? It will help if I can get to know who can do it in Bangalore.

Re: How are headlights and taillights blackened?

2 days back I saw a White Swift with the headlamps WHITENED. It was not thermocol, but some shiny white material in the headlamp. Couldn't take PICs as I had no camera then.
Any idea how it's done?

I have seen one here with white tails and headlights. The headlight was painted white (same projectors that I have) and in the tails they added stuck a translucent plastic film (just like a sun film).

Re: How are headlights and taillights blackened?

Blackening/smoking is quite easy.

First the tail lamp lens is uniformly sanded down with 1500grit sandpaper > cleaned throughly to ensure that there isnt any contaminant or oils on the surface > and then sprayed with a black tinted UV resistant clearcoat.

Re: How are headlights and taillights blackened?

I did blackening of my Chevy Beat tail lamps using VHT Nite Shade and Clear Coat.
It was a DIY and more details and pics in my ownership thread:

Re: How are headlights and taillights blackened?

Looks different. Cant decide whether it looks good or not, but it gets you thinking
Probably due to the lime green color of your car.
Went through your link. Looks like its a bit too dark & you should have stopped at the 2nd coat but im sure the pictures & the real thing vary. How about some night pictures as well?
Time to update those garage pictures

Re: How are headlights and taillights blackened?

Guys I need some help here.

Im planning to smoke the tail lights of my black Spark.
Firstly, can I use any black spray paint can available in the local paint shop?
And do I have to apply it inside or on the outside of the tail lights?
Any other pointers?

Cheers.

This is just one of those several videos on youtube which you may refer. Best of luck for your DIY and do post pictures of WIP and final result.

Hi DWC! Why dont you check out the thread below.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...ail-lamps.html

There is a film available that can be ordered via e-bay. Just take it to any sticker guy and he should be able to do it for you quite easily. I once did it on my CRV (pics below) and the results were great. Durable material and didnt come off until i peeled it. Got it removed as I got a pair of Eagle Eyes from Singapore.

Thanks, but ive already been down that road. I was looking for a lighter shade of film but ended up with a full black one just like you got. Not to my personal taste. So that's why ive decided to leave it to a professional this time. Provided i can find one.
