Video: My BMW 328i with the Steinbauer Powerbox (Now 300+ HP)

Great video there Karan. Your 328i must be zooming past now. Thanks for apprising us to another world of tuning boxes.

I just enquired Steinbauer about their power box for my Punto 90 hp just to get an idea how much it costs and they replied with 650 Euros that roughly translates to 48 grands.

They also said that their power box is more reliable that any other tuning box that modifies the rail pressure and even remapping.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the box. Now my F25 X3 20d is fitted with the Steinbauer power module. It's been a fortnight and I'm happy with the power/torque gains.

Excellent narration Karan and congratulations on your upgrade!

A couple of questions:

What's the Y axis for the torque? Because the stock 328i has a torque of 350 NM at the crankshaft. I am a little confused, because the torque graph doesn't seem to be matching either the engine torque or the torque at the wheels.

The torque at the wheels even at overdrive will have a multiplication factor of say ~3 (considering the final reduction). So the torque at the wheels should have been around ~1000+ NM. The torque figure doesn't match the engine torque of 350 NM either.

Somehow it doesn't seem to be torque at the wheels, because a bump of 50 NM over 1000 NM would be barely noticeable, but somehow the torque graph does not seem to match the rated engine torque either. I am guessing the Y axis doesn't show the calibration for torque. Could you kindly provide those figures please, or let me know if I got it all wrong ...

Also I know it probably doesn't matter, but what was the new F.E. figure, just for info ...

Thanks Once again!

Sorry, I got it, the torque figures are actually in lb-ft. The answer is here: http://www.steinbauer.cc/products/pa...80kw__4lz/bg4/

The theoretical improvement in torque could be upto 70 NM.

Thanks!

Yes in theory i was expecting the torque to go up to 420 NM but did get only 405 NM (55NM gains), some reasons could be;

1) Dyno was done on regular fuel
2) The box has a potentiometer which was set to 20% gains, this can be increased upto 30% so probably that will boost the power & torque further. But this 'race' setting requires high octane only.

Nice job Karan. I intend to get this done on my X3 20d, I wish i had bought the 30d seriously think this one is underpowered (comparatively!)

I've dropped a note with a few queries to Stenbeuer, will update once I get the job done, hope I'd be able to make my car go up to about 230 BHP.

Re: Video: My BMW 328i with the Steinbauer Powerbox (Now 300+ HP)

Hi Karan,

I reached out Steinbauer, they quoted 900 Euro + 40 Euro Shipping to India for my BMW F30 320d

They will further reduce 20% local VAT.

Any idea what is the customs duty to import this to India? I am planning to install itself myself as it is pretty straight forward.

Bharat

Hi Bharat, you can consider adding 38% import duty

Does this change the fuel efficiency figures?
