Is your car an MPFi or Carb?

A free flow should give you enough power as i don't think the 800 is capable of handling anything more than that, unless you get into major chassis mods.

I was extremely surprised to learn, on a recent visit to the Sai service, that Maruti have stopped making the 12 valver Maruti 800. Its only available in 6 valve form now, and yes...I am talking of the version with Mpfi.

For cost and fuel economy reasons, I presume

Kakx, Your best bet would be to go in for a free flow exhaust and an air-intake. I think that should be more than enough for the 800.

Kakx,

What GTO means is that u will get some performance benefits from modifying your air intake (where the air for the engine is sucked in) by removing the existing air filter (to keep dust out of the engine) with a special one mande by K&N (which lets air flow through more easily, hence better).
Here is the link to a discussion on K&N filters since the link GTO posted doesnt seem to be working.

free flow exhaust would be a good option. use speed !!!!!!!!! that will help....the ad says so...!

see man there r alot of other things...like polish ur cams, change timings, change cam compressions and the list is endles..but the total cost will be more than u r car!
just go for the ffree flow sports exhaust ....get a whole kit all the way from the manifold thats will take care of things!

hey vishnu,

Speed or power for that matter are not all that gr8, i used to use them, then my service station manager asked me to add Thermal, additive, to normal fuel. I am getting better milage after using thermal, givin me arnd 17.5 in city.

I beleive speed 93 and Ioc's High octane are supposed to be better. Normally fill them once in a month after using unleaded fuel 3 tanks. Supposed to hlp clean the engine and other stuff.

Hey Vishnu,
What do you mean by polish cams and change cam compression?. What i think you meant is redegree the cam and increase engine compression. And no it wont cost more than the car. Redegreeing the the cam will cost around 10k per cam. cheaper if 6lobe. and to increase compression for an 800 it will cost no more than about 1000 bucks. 40 Rs for the head gasket and 350 Rs for the Machine shop to face the head. Porting can also be done as well as polishing. Costs from 3000 to 5000 max.
Yes a tuned header and free flow exhaust will do excellent for a 800. Try a 3-1 type header. Use 1.25" Primaries with a length of atleast 17". Then Use 1.5" secondary pipe and use the same pipe till the muffler. 1.5" is recomended for good initial. For the muffler go for a free flow designed 14" long and 5-6" in diameter. With 16g outer metal thickness. Medium sized perforations in the centre. and also if you can get use CRV Fiber Glass filled else use glass wool. This whole thing to fabricate will take around 5 hrs max. and cost around 4000 tops.

Cheers
Dom
