Even i will be looking for a ICE oriented battery for my lancer next month. So whats the next best thing after the optima? Will the standard amaron do the job?

AMARON : 3900-300 (old battery) = 3600 incl. VAT
EXIDE one was coming to 4200-300 = 3900 with 2+1 year (replacement+pro rata) warranty

All of you are mainly discussing batteries on petrol vehicles, i have got a different story.

Our diesel vehicle was running on exide , after its sudden death we went for an amaron battery. This was in 2002 ,our amaron battery is still working perfectly . Recently we had a starting trouble , initially we suspected the battery but later it was found to be a problem with starter.

In my experience bosch silver is more dependable than amaron. esp if you the stereo and fan a lot during idling!

Hay, Thants cool man, from 2002 means this is the 5th year you are running on the same battery, that too on a diesel vehicle. That is truly admirable.
By the way which car is that?

Anyway I'm happy that i did the right thing by replacing my cars dead Excide with an Amaron

In my experiance EXIDE batteries have a knack of "dying" just after the "One Year Replacement Warranty Period". I have experianced this on my IKON & on Zen. Amaron has a good warranty policy & the pricing is similar, so I'd say AMARON

Cheers

Its an ambassador with matador 301 which has completed more than 350000 kms without a major repair. It is silent when compared with other matador engines, gives a mileage of 11 in city and 14 in highway. Planning to flush the engine.

  • I have changed thrice in my car. The OE's were Exide , later on we got Bosch silver and that too konked off in 2yrs and that too exact 2 years, right after maturing date of guarantee period
  • Right now am running on the non maintenence free SF . Got the Ampere rating upped to 70 instead of the standard 60A . I got 500 for my old battery, another thing is the DIN 60 type of Amaron costs close to 5300Rs (with 2+2 warranty), consider that to Rs.2800 of a 70A SF battery (I agree that itss a pain to for check the Battery once every 3 months). Am a satisfied user.
  • According to someone in the field(eletric spare parts dealer) they say Amaron makes batteries for Bosch as well as another Maint free battery from SF on a contract basis , can someone confirm this ?

battery selector & price indicator, bosch silver battery ..

I just spoke to a Bosch senior executive, he confirmed that Amaron makes the bosch silver battery, Bosch has a patent on the 'silver plating' technology which they claim makes it a superior product.

for a bosch silver din 44 battery - 5410/- mrp, after discount - 4598/-

for 90AH silver battery - 6104/- mrp, after discount - 5188/-

Batteries : : Official Fansa Motors Website

I checked with a tata green battery dealer, he offered to buy back any old battery at 56/- per kg, the value is in the lead which is recycled.

BTW, my 3 yr old battery of my RS gave up the ghost while sitting idle for a week when I was in the US. I jump started it and it is fine. Does it need replacing or was this a one off ?
