Hey,
Heres the breakup : *(approximate costs)
Esteem Bottom Half: 5000
16V Head : between 10k and 20k (Availability is a problem)
Engine Overhaul SVC Charges: 2000
Pistons : 1300
Gasket Set: 1800
Porting & Polishing : 4500
Valve Job : 1000
Assembling Charges& Labour : 4000
Header with complete exhaust system: 5500
Carbs Weber DCOE40 used ones : Between 15000 to 20000
Strut tower Brace : 2500
Suspension Beefing up : 1000 (The oil will be changed to stiffen to an extent)
Rear Dampers Changed: 2500 (Can be done for under 1k also)
N20 : About 35k
Engine Blueprinting can be done which will set you back around 15k more (depends on the extent of work) from basic stuff like oil gallery enlarging, lightening the crank (Knife like), Polished pistons, Polished crank, Polished rods (increases toughness), Weight matching to .01gram. etc lotsa stuff....

For the Start: engine, head, port polish, valve work, carb (decide on esteem carb or if you can webers) esteem carb is around 3500 (Used Reconditioned), Headers, exhaust system. Should be enough.

Cheers
Dom

PS: Where are u located?

Dude try Speed-Demon.The conversion done by him are really neat.I have driven one of his modified Esteem which gives a better average also with a good amount of power.Infact a smoother power delivery.

hi all...
i agree with you dominic that 100 bhp isnt much, but yeah i was thinking more about reliability & everyday use,

dipen i have no idea how much this would cost me... but i have plans in the future of prepping up my zen...& the swift gt engine is definetly the best way to go,about 100-150bhp is nice for the western express highway which is undergoing a complete makeover!!!

btw dont u think weber carbs will kill the fuel consumption like crazy!?!?sigh..only if petrol cost what it cost in dubaI!!

Hi,
Yea webers do kinda drink a bit , about 6 or so will be the approx FE at 12:1.
The palio too can be modded quite a bit. But is more difficult to work with than the G13B's. Parts are costlier, most stuff like flywheel, pulleys etc have to be fabricated It isnt impossible but costs a tad more than to do up a zen.
Porting depends on the seriousness of the job, STG1 STG2 etc etc. Well as we call it here a 'Full Blown Head', which has lots and lots of porting done, intake is enlarged, Valve guide modification, Air tunnel is modified, intake on a rough finish, Valves are enlarged and have a 3-angled valve job. Combustion chamber is mirror finished, even the valve heads are polished, exhaust tract modified and has a total smooth and mirror finish. This kinda port job should give you about 25hp on a 1.6 palio. Takes about 2 days for the complete work and probably add another day for assembling and dis-assembling. FE will improove actually, have seen a 15% gain(normal driving). But on WOT will drop to about 20% lesser.

Cheers
Dom
