They are lighter man thats what i think. But no other particular reason. Supposed to be used in cars which want a very low weight. But its more cosmetic in indian cars. looks cool

Thats' it!!!!

I thought it all those perforations to avoid lateral expansions or something like that!!
Perforations are used in display board so that they dont bend when under sunlight!!!!!!

UPGRADES FOR MY ZEN MPFI:
I HAVE ALREADY FITTED A FREE FLOW EXAHUST AFTER CAHNGING THE HEADERS FROM PANCHAL -AJAY MHAPSEKAR WHO IS THE BEST IN MUMBAI.I HAVE ALSO FITTED A K&N FILTER.
I PLAN THE FOLLOWING:
155/65R13 TUBELESS WITH ALLOY RIMS,
AND GETTING BUMPER AND SPOILER WORK DONE MAYBE FROM RIO DESIGN AS DC HAS ALL SAME DESIGNS.
i wanna know as to where can i get iridium or platinum plugs of the right size for my zen.
also will making a scoop on the bonnet above the filter help in drawing more air

No. Perforations are there so that a display board or so called hoarding can withstand wind blow.

I didn't know that, though..
Know what i'm learning a new thing every day.
Are u sure that they have nothing to do with expansions?

Yeah Shravan,

The holes in "billboards" are so that the wind doesnt rip them off or knock them over.
Are you getting confued with what we had discussed about expansion joints in another thread?

And drilled pedals...i guess the advantages are looks, weight and grip.

i thoink u shud go step by step to know what difference does the mod make.
the first change can be to go for a free flow from automech exhausts in parel .it should cost u around 6.5k for the entire system.
after this u can go for a K&N filter which u can get from karan shah .that should cost around 3-3.5k.
then u should go for a tacho as it is very much useful .a pricol wud cost around 700rs where as the latest one with the shift light from autometer shoiwing oil temp, water temp...wud cost 11k
i had got all this done in 2001.but i think the prices must be same.
this is more than enough for a zen as u already have alloy wheels.
the performance u get after this is superb :
i touch 140-150kph very easily on any open stretch .
the exahaust sound at 100kph or 3000rpm iun 5th gear is just too good.also when u drive properly i.e between 60-80kph on the highways ,i have got 24kpl witjhout ac.
when u have a free flow u tend to show off and then ur fuel consumption increases.
still on a recent 1000km drive to mangalore which i did in 14 hours at speeds of 120-150kph on any open rd.,i got 16kpl ,with ac on for about 300-400kms.
so a free flow and filter shud cost around 11k.
but i suggest u do it steop by step.

Guys,
I am not at all happy with the tires in my car.the skinny 145/80r12 help in improving the ride quality over the previous 13 inch tires, but at the expense of handling.
I am planning to go for a new set of tubeless tires with alloy rims.if I go for anything wider ,the tires could foul with the body and also the speedo reading would change.
So to keep the speedo reading unchanged,I plan to put 145/70r13 on the front ,and 155/65 r13 on the rear.both the tires have the same OD.
I know this would require me to keep two sets of spare tires,so I can keep the extra tire on the dicky door ,like in SUV’s.
Will it affect the handling of the car.or will any suspension component get affected due to these changes.
I had written about this to ACI,OD a long time back.but did no get any reply.have written again.
Does anyone have any idea .
