Installed: LED Foglamps in the Toyota Innova Crysta

Big thanks to Arjun Shubrah for sharing!

Quote:
I just took delivery of my Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 ZX & had already opted for the LED foglamps that the Touring Sport model was coming with (after the September update) while paying the booking amount itself.

This is the very first Innova Crysta to be fitted with LED foglamps from the company. These cost me ₹23,560/- for the pair. It was very tough for the dealership to find the part number for these as there have been no Touring Sports’ sold here in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

I can't arrange for the part number or bill at the moment as I’m not anywhere near the dealership, but the installation was done right in front of me, with assurances that it is a genuine TKM product being installed.

Now the low beam, pilot light & the fog lights are all LEDs & provide crystal white 6000K light on the road. I’m planning to replace the HB3 high beams with a Philips 6000K offering as well, but the amount of glare it’ll cause to others scares me from taking a step in that direction.

The same set of foglamps are now being offered as standard on the new Toyota Fortuner as well.

Sorry for the unwashed car as I had to directly run it for 250 km straight from the dealership due to some work.

Re: Installed: LED Foglamps in the Toyota Innova Crysta

The part number and the price of the LED foglamps has been shared by Karan in the Fortuner official review thread. Foglamps are the same for both Crysta and Fortuner.

Re: Installed: LED Foglamps in the Toyota Innova Crysta

Are LED/Projector fog lamps effective in actual fog or are they just back up for the headlamps in normal conditions and not very useful in fog?

Nice addition. By the way, the new Innova has got TBHP stickers before it has license plates!
Definitely a big TBHP follower!

The beam pattern, spread & the light throw is much better when compared to halogen bulbs in conventional reflector setups.

The higher colour temperature of my LED fog lamps will however cause a problem while driving through dense fog, but as mentioned in the lighting thread, the crystal white light looks absolutely surreal at night.

If you’re looking for something to cut through fog, you should try going for a projector setup/LED setup with bulbs under the 3500K mark, as they provide the best illumination in such cases.

Thank you, sir. I’m still in the learning phase, so sincere apologies for the above mentioned mistake.

Are there any other BHPians from around our area as well, sir?

No need to apologise and please don't call me 'sir'! Makes me feel too old

There are quite a few active BHPians from JH. You can browse Members List> Search Members> Advanced Search> Input the required location in 'location' field and search. Lots of more filters you can apply there.

Regards,
Saket

Re: Installed: LED Foglamps in the Toyota Innova Crysta

Here is another option for those who would like to retrofit LED bulbs in their halogen projectors, these are proper halogen replacement LED bulbs made by philips so no glare and cut off is equivalent to halogen. Crysta uses H16 halogens.

Philips H11 LED (Suitable for H16, H8, H11)

Any photos from the driver seat of how the foglamps light up the road?

Few days back I and nkapoor777, we tried our Philips H11 LED's back to back with stock Halogen bulbs on both Isuzu V-Cross and Pajero Sport projectors. The light output was weaker than even the dim Sylvenia halogens.

We eventually returned the LED bulbs, we both switched to Osram 4200k HID on low beams, which is easily twice as bright compared to LED.

^^ These are older model Philips H11 LEDs, mine is different and the brightness is as good as stock H11 Extreme Vision halogen i replaced it with in low beams yesterday. I can't use HID since mine are reflector lamps.

I was in a similar situation few months ago.
It's not the LED bulbs but the projectors which aren't suitable for LED's.
Switched to HID's and output was twice as much the LED's in same projectors.
